Purchased my first home!

After roughly a year and a half of working my butt off and saving my pennies, I'm finally getting my own home. It is a townhome style condo. I get the first two floors, and the person above me gets the two floors above me. I paid a 10k premium to snag the end-unit, which I think long term will be well worth it. My only compliant is the garage size which will limit me from working on my car in there, but my future motorcycle should fit in there just fine. Hoping to get roughly 5 years out of this house before I rent/sell it.

Specs: 1600 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, and a 1 car garage. It is a spec house, so I got every option they offered bascially.

Estimated delivery: mid to late December.

Thank you! I'll post updates as we get further along in the build.

Thanks man! I've spent the past year and a half almost working 7 days a week, and I'm glad that I finally have something to show for it. Looking back at it, I have no idea how I did it, but I'm glad I did it. It helped me set a great financial foundation.

I can't wait to start doing some house mods. I've already got an amazon wish list of crap for the house

If you guys recommend any products, etc. please do shoot them my way. I am open to just about anything.

P.S. - I want to make one of the bedrooms into a lego room

House mods > car mods. They help your property appreciate rather than depreciate lol.

What specifically are you looking for? Giving you a list of stuff would take weeks haha.

Also, that amazon wish list never goes away. It just morphs over time.

Congrats on the new place!

Awesome and I agree, house mods take over car mods; Hell, I gave my personal car to my sister and am just sporting my company Fusion

In for pics!

Thanks guys! The house is coming along nicely, I haven't had a chance to go by it during the day too many times since I've been too busy, but I will have updated pictures up here soon.

I went to Bassett's yesterday to check out some furniture. I found a really nice sectional I really like. Anyone have any experience with them? I am hoping they have a 25-30% sale going on when I actually buy the furniture this December as it is quite pricey.

Here is what I am getting in the oyster color code: https://www.bassettfurniture.com/Rig...al-DZ42610.asp

They're having 30% off right now if anyone else is interested.

House is finally complete and I moved in a week ago. I will post some pictures later today.

They pressure washed my front door yesterday while I was inside and a little bit of water came through from the two bottom corners. Is this normal? I mentioned it to one of the workers today, and he told me that the door isn't designed to keep out water coming in with that kind of pressure and that I should be fine during storms, etc.

I would say it's probably normal but I would say something to the builder and ask him to check it out to make sure there isn't an issue.

Unacceptable. Is it too late to return it?

Thanks, I'll mention it to the project manager at our 30 day post settlement meeting. I'm trying to be super picky right now with everything because any defects I find during the 30 day period are replaced without much question by the project manager. Any issues that fall outside of the 30 day period, but within the 2 year bumper-to-bumper warranty require corporate approval.

I'll work on putting some pictures up now.

Congrats!

Door seals aren't designed to withstand a 2500psi stream of water but I doubt that it was directed straight at the seal anyway. I'd just get it checked out provided it's free.

Here are some crappy cell phone pictures my girlfriend took the day we moved in:

The master shower is my favorite part of the house. I never thought two shower heads would enhance my shower experience so much haha.

If you're going to rent/sell take care of that carpet or get tile/laminate. Lots of people disqualify carpet homes because they don't feel like upgrading and/or pets.

My previous house had hardwood floors on both levels, and personally I wasn't a fan of having it upstairs. I do agree with you though, I've also found that the majority of people don't want carpet.

Should my current lifestyle stay constant (hoping it does), I'm without a doubt going to be purchasing a second home in the next 3-5 years. If I choose to rent out this one and move to the new one, I'll def ditch the carpet.

Honestly new carpet is great. Especially when I was a kid and I could play on the floor.

My current home has hardwood floors with a crawl space. I sound like Godzilla walking around so I couldn't imagine the 2nd floor noises while in the 1st floor.
