New Oil Fired Furnace

Finally pulled the trigger and had a new boiler put in to replace the 40 y/o unit that came with the house. I was having some issues w/ the old boiler recently (my hot water is off the boiler), and have been thinking about getting a new one since last fall:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ghlight=boiler

If oil stays around $2.50 a gallon, It'll take about 6 years of savings to pay it off, but it'll also increase the value of the house too in case I sell before then. Should see about a 25% savings in fuel costs this winter... My oil guy has been busy putting in alot of new boilers this summer, so I guess that I'm not the only one replacing the old w/ the new...

New one is a Dunkirk, made in the USA out of Dunkirk, NY... Old one was a Richmond...

Replaced some zone values with circulators, and had my heating guy tidy up the plumbing from when the last owner added the addition to the house, so it cost a little more then a simple remove/replace...

New vs. Old (front cover is off):

All hooked up:

Looks good, better off doing it now than in the middle of winter which is when it would probably die.

I see you have a well, do you ever have the water tested? Someone told me I should test it once a year, just wondering what others do.

Nope, no well.. I've got town water (with my own septic system).

If you're talking about the big blue tank on the right, that's the "boiler buddy" water heater... Holds 41 gallons of water and is heated by the boiler...

Just hedging my bets Gotta get up into the attic to add more insulation this fall (when it gets cooler up there)...

It's kinda funny that we picked the 2 hottest days so far this year to put a boiler in, but we wanted to do it before my guy gets busy come heating season...
