I liked those unstained shingles. Kinda gave it a homey/natural feel.

i agree, it looked nice. Although with the larger overhang by the backdoor the shingles would have weathered differently...

So the backsplash has gone in.. Pictures before grout:

Transition to wood paneling:

Stain choices, we are going with the one that is closest to the current stain:

And tile grouted:

Furniture was removed throughout the house yesterday in order to sand and stain all the floors... By next wednesday the floors will be done and the furniture will be back in.

After that, the appliances go in, handles go on the cabinets, adjustments are made, and of course the final punch list.

On another note; the driveway is being redone shortly... goodbye 55 year old cement!

Thanks for all the positive comments guys!

Sanding of the floors began today, I assume they'll finish tomorrow and get started on the staining either then or monday.

There is still a lot of dust so you cant really see the grain of the wood, but thats where we are now!

That is an amazing looking kitchen. The only thing is I would love to see what the island would look like with floor trim that matched the island instead of the floor.

Wow, that stain really was the icing on the cake, we need better whole room shots, perhaps with some side-by-side before and afters

While I agree a darker stain would've matched the white cabinets better, I think having floors that dark is a bit much. Everything else would have to be really bright to pull it off.

I think you misunderstood what I meant. I think the stain goes great in the room. I agree doing the whole floor as dark as the cabinets would have been to much.

However they used trim around the island that is the same color of the floor. I would think that trim the color of the island cabinet would have made for a much more seamless transition.

For your future knowledge, that trim is called a toe strip.
