Heres some of the Nest products we installed. I'm already in love with the app. It was nice driving back from galveston last weekend and being able to kick on the AC on our way home so that it was nice and cool
Anyone have any good recommendations for door bells? I was thinking of going wireless but I rather just use the wired setup since thats how it is already, I just gotta get rid of that yellow plastic box

Can you just buy a new cover?

Not sure, I'd rather do that if possible. Going to lowes here in a bit to buy grout and I'll ask around and report back

Showers and floors all done. Now we've decided to replace all the drywall since the previous owners decided to texture and paint over wall paper instead of doing it right.

Final product of the showers

Very nice! I really like the rock floor in the shower. I wasn't sure what was going on in the progress pic showing it LOL.

Haha, yeah after I looked at it again I can see how you thought that. Looks broken almost. There is still a ton of residue on everything but the grout in the pebble is charcoal. Should look a little better once we clean it up and seal it.

We weren't sure if we'd like the pebbles but it's a nice feel when standing on them.

Nice bathroom work! I like the rock look on the shower floor.

If your doorbell works, just paint the cover. That's probably what I'll do.

Beautiful!

Why the hell would someone paint over wallpaper?

Blows my mind the things we've been uncovering over the last few months. I always thought that the walls were a little off but they did the roll on texture over the wallpaper to hide it fooled us for a good while haha

Baseboards in master bath done today, we did tile base in the guest and the walls are being prepped in both this week too. About halfway done in guest bath so far.

Nest is dope and I love your tile choice in the master bath. At first glance the floor in your shower looked like a bunch of cockroaches

Yea your tiles choices in the master bath are fucking awesome.

Late here but I know Lowes doesn't sell just doorbell covers.. you have to replace the whole damn thing. So I just painted ours white with the same paint I used on all the trim. Looks good...

Seriously that denim looking tile is baller!

Thanks everyone!

The tile is called a "linen style". My one request out of this project was that I wanted to have a grey bathroom. Initially we were going to do large grey tiles like the ones in the guest bath but luckily they didn't have any where we went.

Linen that's what I meant! Very cool!

How difficult was cutting that pebble tile?

Do you have a professional tile saw or just rocking one of those $100 Skil 10 inchers?

No, we have some workers from our friends company that are doing all the labor for this.

The backing of the pebbles is a mesh that you can easy cut up with scissors

I'll get my first taste of laying flooring and tile here in the next month when we do the rest of the house. Our kitchen and laundry room are pretty square so I figure that will make for a good learning experience.

Oh ok that's cool. I thought you were DIYing.

Yes most tile sheets these days are mesh backed. Still takes a steady hand to cut though or they will move around a little. I found topping the front side with painters tape to strengthen up "the line" helped a lot.

Good luck! Our entry way / half bath / and kitchen need new flooring. We can't upgrade the half bath yet until we do that because the flooring stops at the vanity instead of going under it. And since we want a pedestal we're stuck.

Yeah I wanted to destroy the vanity and have full tile but with a new vanity and all would have put us over budget Ideally what you're planning to do will look the best.

Shower door was installed this morning. We changed to a nickel framed door to allow more money for the wood floors. Still looks good doe. Sealing the shower floor after the door dries, can't touch is for 24 hrs

Ps, I hated this bathroom prior to this. Felt like I was showering with the old owners, and never enjoyed a bath because of that thought.

Damn now that's some transformation right there.

That master bathroom tile is on point. I wish I would have seen that before I bought my basic generic 12x12.

Where did you order the frameless shower door? I'm trying to price them out.

Also, good to know I can replace the countertop in the bathrooms, someone was telling me it was a "all in one" Vanity with top and the top doesn't come off.

We ended up getting the framed door vs the frameless. I can get the name of the company but we paid a contractor we know and he hired everyone. I know it was about half the price of the frameless.

Yeah definitely check that there are no caveats with your vanity but it should just pop right off once you cut the sealant around the edges.

Finally decided on cabinet paint and wall paint and finally getting started with painting today. Out of the grey wall choices we decided on second from the right and plan on doing the baseboards white but might choose one of those other grey colors after its all done. I also scraped all the popcorn off of the ceilings and will paint the ceilings a dark grey in the shower area and most likely we are leaning towards the grey farthest to the left for the rest of the ceiling. When we get the mirror back up we'll paint the frame around it the same as the cabinets.
