Lay sod right over cable line, or bury?

F'ing Comcast. My cable line was cut two weeks ago because of the jackwagons who were installing a fence behind me. No big deal, Comcast came out, pulled another line.

They told it they'd come out any bury it within 7-10 days. It's been two weeks.

Called this morning and they didn't have me on the schedule, earliest appointment is now June 14. I am scheduled to get my lot graded, with irrigation and sod hopefully this week.

Question is --- Can they just lay the sod over the line, or should I put it down in the ground a few inches. My only concern is when I aerate the year, I don't want to grab the line.

I suppose I could take a shovel and bury it the 3-6 inches they put it under ground? Thoughts?

You want to bury it or have it buried. If it was me, I'd rent a trencher and just do it myself since this is holding up yard progress. Of course, only if it's as straight forward as it sounds.

Bury!

BTW we're going on 3 months waiting for our new line to be buried (replaced a cut line when we started the garage). Hope they have it done by the end of the month before the grading and new driveway gravel is delivered...

Such dog poop. I called and escalated. The CSR actually put in that there is a "danger" by leaving it exposed. Told them it has to be done by Friday. We'll see.

Comcast is going to try to have all utilities marked ASAP, etc... Grrrr... So fuggin lame.

Crapcast did the same thing to me. I dug a hole & buried it myself. But I had to stop as it had to cross the walkway. I left that for crapcast, & they messed that up. They stuck it in the crack between the paves & sealed it & a year later it looks like crap & I can see the black cable line started to come through.
I wish they would have talked to me before running the line. I would have gladly dug the hole & put a conduit under the walk way for the cable. If I wanted to do that now I'd have to cut the line & get them to run a new one. PITA.

I used to run electric wires for walkway post lamps and they had to be enclosed in conduit before being buried, which is just yellow plastic tubing. Can be found pretty easily...I would recommend, especially for a weak wire like this.

Forgot about that. Yes, definitely put it in something. The conduit he's talking about should have a slit so you can slip the cable in with little problem.

Sometimes there's power along with the signal coming in on the coax that can give a fair jolt.

If they wanted to they could get locates and have the job done the same day. We get emergency locates all the time. It was probably a contractor that installed the line, not a Comcast employee and he probably didn't turn it in. When they did mine they only put it about 6 inches underground and its been fine. Guy did it when he installed the new drop. Good luck, I've heard Comcast is horrible to deal with.
