Kitchen hardwood floor owners
What do you guys do when you need to roll your fridge out to clean behind it etc? Within the first month after we moved into the new home, without giving it a second thought I rolled the fridge out to check the water connection behind it and wanted to slit my wrists after when I saw the grooves the fridge left in the brand new hardwood floor where I had rolled it out. Almost a year later I am reminded daily of that shit day. How do you guys roll them out without damaging the floor?

They sell coasters you can put it on to roll it easier...

Cardboard supposedly isn't a good thing as it can crush and result in the same marks.
Use either the coasters that Whiskers mentioned (they're available at Home Depot), or use a sheet of plywood with a blanket or rug underneath to prevent scratching the floor.

Try this in an inconspicuous area first (say, underneath/behind the fridge!) to test out a few methods.

You could buy some 1/4" thick plastic sheets to work as coasters if your just going to move it a few inches. Or the premade coasters they sell at homedepot/lowes. I wouldn't trust those if you need to move it more than a few inches though...
If you have to move it far just rent an appliance mover (like $20 a day or something). They actually float the appliance on a cushion of air. That's how we moved my fridge when I refinished my kitchen floors; we had to move it over 30' of hardwood and then back! It turns your fridge/appliance into a hover craft... moving it is a snap. You can use it on your stove too...
Here' check it out...

Once running you could move this soda machine with you pinky finger in any direction and it never touches the floor.
You just slide the 2 pads under the fridge and power up the blower. And the fridge will start hovering/floating over the floor. You can literally push it around with one finger in any direction.
