Just bought my first home!!

I signed papers on Monday and finished picking all the tile, carpet, etc yesterday!!

My sister and I are buying it as an investment property-we will live in it for about 5 years and then turnaround and rent it out or sell it, depending on how the market fares.

Anyways, it has four bedrooms, three and a half baths, and two "living areas" (family room and media room). Plus, it has a three car garage! If everything goes to plan, which I am sure it wont , it should be completed by the end of February!!

Man, we are so excited!!

Sorry for the crappy pic-haven't had the chance to take a better one.

Nice house. I'm surprised by how close your neighbors house is though.
Good luck with it.

Looks cool. How much is that thing, 250? 300?

I wish I could buy me one of them for that price. I would get two.

Yeah, it is close, but this house was on the builder's close out pricing, so we got this one instead of starting from scratch with a bigger lot.

Just over three with the options that we added-tile throughout on the main floor, granite counter tops, upgraded carpet, etc.

Looks like a beauty. Congrats!

Get ready to spend tons of $$ @ Lowe's and Home Depot! We built a new home last year so I figured I was done spending tons of $$ at home stores (since the new house was brand new).... but as a DIY'r, I always seem to find new things to get for it.. Enjoy..

Thanks, were stoked!! We were looking at a few different areas, but fell in love with this area. It is 10 mins from downtown Austin, and 10 mins from office-can't get much better than that!!

I know what you mean-my older sister is a fellow masshole and she is building her house in Bedford as we speak. It is dumbfounding how much she is paying and how much less she is getting than me.

God, I do LOVE Texas!!

I just finally got real blinds in myhouse. I ordered them from stardecorating.com. They had an excellent price and reallygoodfollow through. I had two damaged by shipping and one made wrong. All were immediately replaced with no push back whatsoever.

Anyway, that is a nice house. There are some right outside my window being built just like that .... for 850k.

Anyways, congrats. Looks like a VERY nice home

The housing market here in Austin has been behind the national average for a while now. We are only just entering the bubble now. All told, I will just under or right around $100/square foot. In a few years, taking into account the current market growth, I will be able to easily pull anywhere from $115-$120/square foot.

The property isn't all that big-can;t remember the exact specs. But, we do have a nice size back yard that is very treed (sp??).

And yes, we are in Austin-just outside the city. We are about 10 mins SW from downtown.

have to agree with the windy city man. i visited a friend in san antonio once and couldn't believe how much more impressive homes were there, and nearly half the price as around here.

congrats ATXCLS

Man, I wish I could get a house like that in the Bay Area!

My parents house (which I live in) cost us $500K back in 2001 (5 bedroom, 3.5 bath, 2900 sq ft). It's now worth $900K

There is no way I could get a house like yours out here for $300K, congrats

I don't know how it compares to anyone else, but it is low for Austin, about 2.5%.

The other great thing about Texas is that there is NO income tax!!

In NH, we don't have sales or income taxes (except for restaurant food and some other small items)......

They stick it to us with our property taxes....

Yeah they still pay federal.

Paying state tax isn't all that bad. It's typically nominal and if you pay it before end of the calendar year you can write it off as a business expense on your federal taxes.

I definately wouldn't move to Texas because of no state income tax.

No income AND no sales tax however, that is tempting.
