HVAC Question - Maximum Line Set Length?
HVAC Question - Maximum Line Set Length?
Ok, so getting down to some details, one of which I wish my builder would have flagged for me earlier.
Long story short, the furnace to heat the second floor is going ON the second floor, in the bonus room, in an insulated closet.
Anyway, the problem I may face is that I want the two air conditioners to sit on the north side of the house, out of the sun. All the utilities are coming in on the north side of the house. But the bonus room is on the south side of the house, so the furnace is more on the south side.
What I'm being told is that the line set should NOT be over 50 feet, and we'll be closer to 70 feet. My builder said he's done plenty of houses before over 50 feet without issue and is going to talk to his HVAC guy more tomorrow, but I'm trying to find out if there is an issue going over 50 feet for the line set? Maybe no one knows here, but figured I'd ask.
What's a bitch is that copper is wicked expensive and I've read you can go over 50 feet, but have to increase the OD of the copper pipe. I guess we'll see, but I wish we would have caught this earlier.
Oh well.
