Home rebuilding costs . . .

per square foot? Anyone have a link to a site that gives rebuilding costs for different parts of the country?
Getting to renew homeowners insurance and want to make sure I am carrying enough coverage to rebuild if the worst happens.

I don't have any links, but I'd say it's roughly in the $150-$200/sft around these parts. Of course, choice of materials will play a large part in costs.

depends on the work that the project entails.

outdoor extension / continuation of slab / custom itmes (millwork!!) = labor fees

equipment installation / basic finishes = material costs

in terms of labor-
labor is not so much dependant on city, but neighborhood demographic. do not overstep your boundary and choose a contractor that is accustomed to charging inflated fees for luxurious projects. that being said, choose the contractor appropriately to you needs without jeopardizing quality work.

in terms of materials-
thats your prerogative and in your control. use your best judgment to stay within your budget. be MOST aware of window casements, carpeting / basic flooring, and stone.

I would say 350/sf for a decent (not high end) custom home, but here in the bay area
