I always thought HOAs were a ripoff. I'd be mad too if I found out what this lady found out.

I get double whacked. I have an HOA AND a CDD fee to pay every month to the tune of about $403 monthly.

My HOA is 250/yr and includes use of the outdoor pool, tennis courts, and basketball courts. Its also supposed to maintain the "common" grounds, but they only show up maybe once a month if that. I take turns with my neighbor cutting the grass between our yards thats considered common area.
and YES HOA's are a rip off
If I had the choice I would opt out of the HOA since I don't go to the pool or any of that stuff.

It seems like the problem is that she does not have an HOA, but was paying monthly dues to the local golf club. I guess she didn't read the disclosures or notice the absence of an HOA when she bought the place.

It'll be UF vs. LSU
