Agreed, which is why I will hit a wallyworld and not a Target.
HD is now out, as they had specialty stores (Floor store) where you could order special tiles. Turns out hey just closed em all and the b*t(h is that the regular HD don't/won't/can't order the same tile I got from the HD Floor store. I have always preferred Lowe's, now, I wouldn't go back to HD if paid.
BTW Resolution-I contacted the company in Italy that makes the tile and found one of the 3 vendors in all of TX that carry the stuff. HD SUX story

As long as they dont move shit on me, I can get in and out pretty quickly. If I have a big shopping list, then I can choose to go to Lowes...

We took our business elsewhere, remembering way back in the earlier days where Home Depot had knowledeable employees... nowadays they seem to hire any minimium wage employees who doesn't know jack about home improvement.

He looks at an isle and says "down hardware", I told him I had already been down there, then he says "oh yea, its in tools" -points his hand in the area and finishes by saying "somewhere the hell in there."

Yeah the Home Depots I been to here in Atlanta suck as well. I had to wait nearly an hour just to get someone to cut some wood scraps for me. And its always hard to find help from anyone in general. I remember another time I needed some glass to replace a window on my garage door; home depot had what I needed, but again, no one was available to cut the glass to the size I needed. I left the store and went to lowes, and within 10 minutes, I had the glass already cut and was walking to the register.
I used to call them "Highs", but I still perfer Lowes over Home Depot anyday and lucky for me Lowes is actually couple of miles closer to my home than HD.

Lowes sucks harder than Home Despot here. Lowes is way over priced here to compensate for their location.
I go to Home Despot with the assumption I will never get help.

We don't have a HD near me, but we do have a fairly new Lowe's (Nov. 2006). And the customer service SUCKS, horribly. The staff is unfamiliar with their products, their policies, and their pricing. I'm almost tempted to boycott if I didn't NEED things from there.

So, I need to pick up a new garbage disposal unit for under the sink.
Both HD and LW are within 5 minutes of me and both have the item listed on website. HD for $5 less than LW. No brainer, go to HD.
Call LW to see if it's in stock (backup plan) and it is.
Call HD to see if it's in stock and it is. Thing is, the in store cost is $5 more, making it exactly what the LW cost is. Different price on the website and in the store.
I absolutely HATE that.
I am off to Lowe's to buy the item for the price as advertised on the website.

Didn't Best Buy get in trouble for that a few years ago? Having an intranet set up in the store showing the price being the same as on the shelf, yet on the outside it was different (cheaper)?
Anyways, I know you shouldn't have to do this, but I wonder what would happen if you printed out the online page showing that price and brought it to the store...think they would sell it to you for that?
I'm sure someone has purposely edited the price and printed it out trying to get a better deal so I doubt they would.

I just go to specialty shops or ACE.
If I need carpet work, I go to someone who does carpet only. HVAC, I get AC guys.
If I need parts to fix something myself, I go to ACE or I order parts direct from the interwebz.
Lowes and HD are ridiculuous when it comes to service, service time, and quality of information.

I quit shopping at HD. Won't buy anything there again. Ever.
I'd like to stop shopping Lowes too, but 1.) it's convenient and 2.) they haven't f**ked me. Yet.

A lot of companies have online sites that they won't price match. Less overhead for the online item, so they can charge less. They won't price match it though because they'll lose money.

The only thing I ever buy at these types of stores are small, hard to find products. For instance, I'm going to either HD or Lowes this week to find the perfect bolt/washer/nut combination for a part for my boat.
Something that would be very hard if not impossible to find if I wasn't standing there with all the options in front of me that I can test out and mix and match. I'll also pick up other small stuff like electrical tape, box of screws, etc.
Anything else larger than that I'll research exactly what I need on the internet and buy online.

We do use the local HD for plants, gardening supplies and generic stuff like caulk and sealants.

My home depot is forcing everyone to use the self check out lanes and are charging $.75 per transaction!!! There are no actual checkout people there and you have no choice but to use the self check out. The only way around the fee is to NOT do debit, but take the extra steps to go CREDIT. What a fuggin ripoff. There is NO SIGN ANYWHERE stating the fee charges either. I looked everywhere.

Charging you to check yourself out?
There should be a discount, you are saving them labor costs...
I personally HATE self check out. I would be happy to use it if there was a 15% discount though...
What's next, the supermarket butcher shop will make you cut your own meats? And charge you a "cutting fee" too?

I'd tell them to fuck off and I'd go somewhere else. Just leave the stuff right there at the checkout line and walk out.

Some places charge for using a DEBIT card, but I have never seen a charge to USE the self checkout...

Funny...Sometimes there's a fee associated with using a credit card and not other forms of payment.

My apologies for being un-clear, you are correct. They are charging for a debit transaction.

Ace's prices are so ridiculous.
Case in point: Needed a bag of mix in the hole concrete.
Ace price: $11.49
HD price: $4.98
I actually thought it was a price mistake.
Ace is good when I need a few dollars worth of stuff. Otherwise it's off to HD or Lowes. Honestly I could care less about customer service. I know more about what they sell than 99% of their employees.
