I guess if I were a Lutron Maestro fan (and I am), and interested in automating lights (and I am not), I would look at Caseta. The product range is extremely limited compared to Maestro though.

smartthings says I've been home for the past three days (mobile phone presence sensor), but I haven't. Any ideas?

edit: I removed it, and then added it back in and it still says I'm present. :wtf:

android... I read something about maybe having a conflict with another device registered under the same google account, so I guess I'll eff with that when I get home.

Yeah, you have to either have the devices registered to different emails or turn off presence detection on the devices that you keep at home. The Fire Tab that I bought to be a control center is not set up to be a presence device so it doesn't register as home or away.

I think you mean location services.

I don't have much hope with this because it only stopped working Sunday, and I've been using smartthings for a quite a few months now, but we'll see.

No not location services. The Smartthings app has an option to enable/disable use of that device as a presence sensor aside from location services for other apps. It's not an all or nothing type of thing.

Then I don't think it'll affect anything to do with the ST presence detection...

Yeah these recent issues with SmartThings this month is really annoying. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come for the platform.

^ Agreed.

I need to re-jigger my alarm system routine. The dog keeps setting it off during the day when he walks around. Guess I didn't anticipate him being all that mobile throughout the day while we are gone but here we are.

I'm sure it's not easy to keep up with all the updates from google/apple/etc, but that's not my problem. There really needs to be more stability with this sort of thing.

ST things works!

While our house is all STs, I pretty much gave up on it but I saw a hub update and decided to do a Z wave repair last night. I was confused and didn't think the repair was working because it showed no errors, something I hadn't seen in months. I decided to try and turn some lights on and they worked. This morning, our pool light went off on it's virtual timer without me manually turning it off

I hope they don't fuck it up again. I love it when it works but you get in the habit of depending on it and then when it stops working, it blows hard.

I have a feeling I'm going to have to reinstall every device into smartthings thanks to this new app. Anyone mess with it yet?

Bought a new TV and it won't load into ST classic as a new device. It did load onto new ST's though. However, ST created a second home location when it did it... So I have two homes on one hub somehow, with no way to integrate across homes.

All of my automations remain in ST Classic and were not moved over with devices into new ST's.

I'm going to give it some time and hope it sorts itself out, but Holy hell, what a cluster fuck.

Damn that sucks. From things I read I think you might unfortunately have to add everything back. Which means you also have to remove everything too which is more of a pain in my opinion.

Also been having weird issues with my GE fan switches. They are not all acting the same either but are the same switch version. I used to tell it to turn bedroom fan 100% and it would set the fan speed to max. Now when I give it the same command it turns the fan to 100% and the light to 100%. Not really what you want in the middle of the night. Does not happen with my fan in the living room.

I love the idea of this, but the support is just not there. Maybe they need to have a subscription fee or something.

All my current automations work fine in old smart things. I'll probably just leave it at that until I'm forced to do something. It's fine to add one device at a time and program it, but the thought of having to do it with a 15 or so devices at once and then recreate all the automations does not make me warm and fuzzy.

Yeah this is definitely not something to play with if you are not willing to tinker with it to get it right unfortunately they don't advertise it like that.

Also the transition to merging all Samsung accounts together has been a mess in my opinion. Still hoping once on the other side it will make things better though. Whenever that is.

I don't mind the tinkering, I just don't want to have to do it over and over again because they push updates and change UI's etc.

Sadly I think we are all headed that way with this big change. I have been keeping notes of things I would have done differently config wise lately so when I most likely have to add back 30 some devices I do it with all those things in mind. I hope however that I am wrong in this and we don't have too.

I don't even know how this app ended up on my phone... I had to put google home on for the new TV and the next thing I know this app was open and adding the new TV on it's own, so beware.

I don't know if it got added with google home or with an update to smart things classic or what.

ST has been pretty flawless for most of this year BUT I got that email about the new app maybe a month or two ago and am dreading the move. Last I looked there reviews were pretty rough but they haven't forced me to move yet so maybe they put it off.
