granite yard markers i would guess a new england thing

We have a colonial style house and after seeing some new england homes with the upright granite at the end of their driveway, it has me wondering if i want them.

The stick out of the ground about 3-4' and are probably around 4x4 or different shapes. These homes normally have them at the end of their driveways or property and it might be neat at our house.

Does anyone know what they are called? I have looked up different key words like pillars, stone, marble, yard, granite, etc with no real luck.
