Is this a good price?

All brand new, Light Oak, Kitchen Cabinets/drawers for $924...... Includes countertop and sink (but these are getting replaced anyway.)

Basically the layout looks like this:

except the sink is in the corner

the stove is where the sink is

and everything to the right of the stove (where it sits in the pic) in not included.

Assuming your kitchen is a normal size, that is a smoking good deal

For the price he listed it would have to be, or something is very fishy.

Dovetails on those drawers? Partical board backs? I would definitely want to know what kind of wood he's using.

Seems way too cheap.

A decent 24" cabinet will run you a few hundred. Premade laminate countertops run about $10 a linear foot for the cheap stuff at Lowes.

If it's a display you are buying...that's a slightly different story though.

Yeah, for the record, I'm looking at about $10,000 for 12-14 pieces of cabinetry.

Ouch. ...but you do get what you pay for. Those cabinets will probably outlast the house at $10K.

Thats not even top of the line custom shit though. It's semi-custom full wood...

Cabinets are just fucking EXPENSIVE. I'm still looking for a way to cut some corners here without cutting quality. It's alot of money.

Kitchens are really expensive, with out a doubt it will be the most expensive room to produce in my house.

I remember back in 8/99 when I bought 10 feet of new cabinets...white thermofoil, nothing fancy, but not cheap either. Spent about $2500.

Went to add another 4 feet for an island in 10/2000...price had DOUBLED for the same exact cabinets.

Wow, I didn't know it would cost that much.... I went to the showroom and looked at a few models, they are made of real oak (or maybe they call it "oak" but it is wood). They are made to order, you pick out materials and design, then give them the measurements and they build it for you. Maybe the price differs because I would have to hire someone to install it since they do not do installs.

Also for the New Jersians, it is in Newark on Frelinghyusen (sp?) Ave. I think the place is called Jersey Windows and Tiles if you want to check it out. I got my tiles for my kitchen for $.50/tile (12"x 12" ceramic) there.

Well, Oak is the cheapest... but my price is non-install as well.

Maybe the fronts are real oak, but I'd guarantee the shelves, sides, and drawers are particle board...

You might be right, I didn't look at the whole thing too closely. I just looked and knocked on the doors to see if it was real wood.

Here's what the kitchen looks like now (don't mind the crappy picture from my phone), don't mind how it looks now, I'm in the middle of remodeling the whole thing (floors, living room, dining room, etc.)

I will be replacing the whole thing. As you can see, it's really not that big of a kitchen.

You knocked on the wood eh? That goesn't make the grain real oak. Front's could be solid wood with a laminate grain...

Resale, reliability, durability, look, feel...

Particle board tends to fall apart. It literally took 1 swing of a hammer to remove the old particle board cabinets in my house. They just collapsed on themselves...
