Fish fish fish!!

So this weekend I'm finally starting my 90gal fish tank..
I'm going to do a Lego theme (star wars) lol
Now thinking about algae I thought maybe getting some clear coat and spray the Lego creations to help with cleaning..

But if I can't find a safe clear coat I'm gonna get an algae control additive for the water..

I'd like to hear what you guys think and possibly give me input on how I should go about doing this..

I had Legos in my fish tank when I was younger. Never thought about a clear coat but seems like a good idea. I had trouble with the mini figs floating to the top so i weighted them down with blocks on their feet and hid em beneath the rocks. Good luck and post some pics

UV Sterilizer and water changes. If you want to make the legos one piece and protect them, you can use clear resin. There are many that are aquarium safe.

Picked up my 75 gallon last night. Got 20% off because it was supposed to be a tank/light/tops combo but they didn't have the glass tops in stock. Ordered a set from drfosterssmith for $30 on their anniversary sale. Gonna set up the tank this weekend

I never thought about Legos in an aquarium...interesting.

I just have a lot of red lava rock in mine. Granted I only have a 55, I went fresh water with African Cichlids. I feel the natural colored rocks make the fish color more pronounced.

As far as algae control, just don't set it up near windows and don't leave the lights on all the time. When I have any algae buildup on the rocks, I just take them out and scrub them with a stiff bristled brush. For the small stuff, use a toothbrush. You shouldn't have too much algae buildup though, if you're doin it right. The last time I took anything out of my tank and scrubbed it was 2 years ago. Still looks good.

You doing salt or fresh? What kind of fish are you looking at?

Couple quick pics I took of my 75

Started it off with an Orange Shoulder Severum, a Turquoise Severum, a Red Hump Geo Fagus, a Chocolate cichlid, an Albino Bristlenose Pleco, and a pack of giant danios. I have a large adult green Severum that I'll probably move back over from the 125 to this tank at some point, but gonna wait till the new fish get adjusted and grow a bit

The stand is for up to an 80 gallon, I had a 55 on it before, it's so nice to actually have a tank that look like it belongs on that stand. Here's what it looked like with the 125 and the 55

Thanks Gents, I have been treating the 125 for a fungus outbreak, I will take some side by sides once I get the water cleaned up and filters running again

Thanks, yeah the work is a pain, especially having 5 tanks running at a time, but a no-spill system takes a lot of the hard work out

Snapped a couple quick pictures of some of my fish, here's the new cichlids that I bought.
(left to right) Turquoise Severum, Orange Shoulder Severum, Chocolate cichlid)

Here's the Turquoise, and the Red Hump Geo Fagus in the back

And here's my big girl, still debating if I want to put her in the tank with the other ones or not. She seems happy in the 125g but she's timid of the foot long sharks and doesn't go up for food as much as I wish she would

She likes to give fishy kisses
