Canister vacuums
I know there's already a thread for Dyson's and well my mom isn't looking to spend all that much on a vacuum. I've tried to convince her to get one but its too much. Now she's looking to get a canister vac, for ease of moving it around and getting under tight spaces. Our current vac is dying (as have our previous 2 in the last 5 years). They always get hair snagged in the brush rollers and it gets burnt, causing an awful smell. What we're looking for is something that is relatively maintenance free, easy to use/empty, reliable, and hopefully doesn't get the hair-snagging problem. Lightweight and easy to manuever are pluses too.
I heard someone mention this German brand (not sure of the name) that cost a grip for each of their vacuums but there are of top quality. Anyone have any suggestions?
Another minor thing, I'm looking for a handheld vacuum for my car which is also easy to use, reliable, etc. Thanks.

We have an Electrolux 2100, have had it about five years. It stays in the basement, it's pretty good, uses bags. The one thing a don't like, it doesn't groom the carpet as well as the Dyson. But they have come out with some new models, more up to date.

Miele is the top of the line in canister vacs. If you aren't willing to pay for a Dyson then don't even bother looking into Miele.
