Cabinet hardware...

Where did you get yours?

My cabinets will be here on the 19th, I need to get some handles ordered.

I'm probably just going to go with the standard ol' stainless T pulls...

However, cabinet supplier wants $18/pull... Lowes/HD want about 15/pull. I've found them online for about $9/pull. However, I'm a bit leery of most of the online stores... none I've heard of before... and I don't want to go installing CRAP handles onto this ever so overpriced cabinetry...

At the same time, I need about 30 pulls... which translates to nearly $600 said and done through cabinet supplier. I probably should of negotiated this price BEFORE I paid for my cabinets

Have any ideas?

Yeah they've got the right style, I'm going to order a few to make sure the finishing touches are in place (mitered edges, etc)

Adam, are you planning on installing these yourself? I've been kicking around the idea of installing some myself, but I haven't really figured out the best and/or easiest way to do this. Considering all our cabinets are mounted, does it require me to take all the doors down to drill the holes? Can I do it while they're hung?

Thoughts?

I know you did not ask for my thoughts.

Are you replacing old ones or putting them in the first time?

But just drill the holes in place, from the outside in (go slow, let the drill do the work). Therefore, any frayed wood would not be seen.

Make a jig out of flashing of some sort, measure it make sure its how you want it and just place it on the corner you want the handle. When making the jig bend the edges over the corners so all you have to do is place it firmly on the corner and drill the holes - it should take under 1/2 hour to do a large kitchen when the jig is made and there is no reason to remove the doors to do it. Depending how many drawers you have you could make a jig for that to, but it may be easier to just measure and do them one at a time.

My buddy's grandparents just redid their kitchen to the tune of $50K...but I recall them stating very specifically that they ended up saving over $1K on their hardware by going to an Atlanta company that just sells hardware - that's it. They had this HUGE catalog of stuff, it was sick - but the prices were great! Plus, they offered quanity discounts.

I'd ask them for the name for ya, but it'll be at least another week before I'm back home. You've prob already arranged something by now, just thought I'd mention it.

Well I ordered a few pulls of diff sizes from the place TXXX mentioned... they shipped pretty quick...

Should have them in a couple days. If the quality is there, them's be teh ticket! Can't really beat $5~ a pc... versus $18/pc... (plus $36/pc for the 6 pot drawers).

Why get mad. I got smarter about 10 years ago, it does not get anywhere faster when one gets mad.

Pure observation.

Don't flame, but we got ours online at www.myknobs.com They have many of the same knobs you find in stores, but they were way less. We were 100% happy with what we got too. Worth a shot anyway.

I tried cripes, great prices! But they don't seem to have the correct sizes for the handles I want (need 3" from holes). Any other recommendations?

I got all my hardware from Menards, actually... When they have the special with anything you can fit in the bag and get 17% off... Might want to check their. Their prices are reasonable.

I guess it depends on what you're after.
