Question Building your own closet

Is there a company that sells really good quality materials for me to a build a high quality closet with shelves, poles, etc. in my master bedroom?

I got a quote for over $3,300 from California Closets for an installed setup. I was wondering if I can get something in similar quality that I can build myself and save the difference.

I bought a few California Closet units from Target. They were on sale and I like the quality.

How big is your closet?

You can do a lot with that white wire rack stuff you get from Home Depot. I redid our closet with several shelves, racks with rods, shoe racks, etc and spent about $200.

The important thing is to remember to put enough supports in it. If you don't it will bend and fall. Installed correctly, it is actually quite strong.

Come to think of it, I think they have an online designer which gives you a printout of parts you need ... pretty much. It isn't 100%, so double check its results.

Costco has the closet system brochures (if you guys have Costco in Cali), don't know if it's the same brand that you got quoted, but knowing Costco it'll probably be cheaper for members.
