Building a patio . . .

I decided to go with a patio instead of a deck and am going to lay broken 2.25 inch cream limestone in sand. Has anyone ever layed stone before? Looking for some pointers/things to look out for.

I just decided to do something similar, but for my driveway. I am going to widen it about 3 feet to one side (possibly both sides). Let us know how it goes!
