Battery Back-up for your sump pump?
Does anyone use a battery backup for your sump pump? I was just curious if this is something everyone has - or knows anything about or has a recommended backup device that they use.

I have one.
http://www.basementwatchdog.com/
Got it from HomeDepot.
Our power is pretty good, so it's mainly for convenience in the event of an hour or two without power. We've never experienced more than 1 minute without power in raging storms in the fours years we've been here, however.
I don't know if I would rely solely on something like this. There are other, more commercial setups that are much better, but much more $$$. I went ahead and spent the $400 on this setup and just bought a gas generator. All my bases are covered now.
If I were you, and you're worried about water, get something like what I got and invest in a gas generator.

We have this setup (came with the whole basement install/French drain): http://www.basementsystems.com/basem..._sump_pump.php
So far we have never needed it, but with any setup like this its only going to hold you out for so long. If you get a ton of water and have a big pump constantly working it may not be a bad idea to get a generator.

I was looking at the "Big Dog" from them - is that the one you have?
