backflow pipe for irrigation system
just wondering, how much does the backflow(think thats what is called) cost? last night someone stole the whole backflow pipe from my parents house. so now we need a replacement. thanks

Are you serious? That's fucking insane!
A backflow is really a valve more than a pipe, actually. Something like this? This is essentially what I have.
No idea on cost. I would imagine a couple hundred bucks.

On the topic of replacing/fixing irrigation systems, does anyone have any good links to good "how to"s? Our lawn pretty much sucks, largely due to lack of water, and I was hoping to setup a simple system in the spring to cover the lawn and garden.

I've seen people do it themselves and it's a royal bitch.
You need to either trench by hand or rent a machine to bury the pipe. Then you need to create your zones such that it doesn't lose pressure. Then you have to create some sort of valve box. Then get it all timed. It's a lot of work.
It can be done, but this is something I'd rather pay to have completed.

Couple of hundred bucks. Dayumm ghetto is right.
The valve can be buried so there is less chance of theft, basically it is just an in line one way valve.
