Anyone have a split king mattress?
We bought a king sized mattress that was delivered today. The delivery guy took one look at the staircase and said it will not fit, because this type of mattress can not be bent or it voids the warranty. The mattress was pricey, almost 5 grand and boasts a lifetime warranty so we didn't want to chance that. It ended up going back. They do offer the same model in a split mattress so there is actually two mattresses. I am wondering if anyone has this kind of setup and if you really notice the separate mattresses. My better half was very upset, she was really dead set on this mattress.

You are going to need to evaluate the gap between the two mattresses when you put them together. How does it feel when you lay on the gap? Actually your wife should answer that since that is where she will be during

We didn't buy the split mattresses and they don't have any in the showroom to try out, so I have no idea how it would feel. I am hoping someone has a setup like this that can shed some light.

how are your stairs situated that you can't get a king size up there? Also what type of mattress is this that can't be bent? I mean it's going to have a little give to get through doors and stuff, right?

I now drive an accord....
you sure its the mattress and not the box spring? I have never heard of a split mattress and can't see how that could work well.
I know what you mean with a large mattress though. I have a queen that we tried to bend but the damn thing was too rigid. It was also a pricey mattress, so maybe thats how they all are. We ended up getting it up the stairs but but not without almost putting a hole in the wall.

it's me, Alan Rickman.
Yeah I've got the Costco $800 Serta Cal Kind.. Mattress is one piece, but the box frame is two.. I think it's done that way because the mattress can bend where as the box cannot
and seriously; you lay on the mattress so you're bending things, what the hell is the difference?

A split king mattress is basically two twin mattresses that are pushed together, sometimes held together with a strap.

Once you get used to the foam mattress, the regular spring ones, even with pillow top finish feel so uncomfortable.
Plus foam mattresses, usually come comressed from the factory so it will be a breeze getting them in... Mine came rolled like a rug. It took a couple of hours for the foam to take the shape after we took it out of the vacummed shell.

Doesn't Tempurpedic and all memory foam retain body heat? I hear they get to be pretty warm. It is something to think about. My body runs on the extremely warm side of things. I sweat in the winter.

^If it smells anything like a condom, no thanks.

I have the same issue as well with getting warm at night. The Tempurpedic, without any bed-sheets gets warm as HELL! However, if you have a good quality (like 800) thread count sheet on it, it stays pretty cool! Also the nice thing about the 800 count sheets are that most of them have square corners so they fit perfectly!
