Air hockey table info?
Does anyone have or recommend a type/brand of air hockey table? I just figured a table is a table, but once I started looking into them - they can really get out of control expensive. Wondering if anyone has one they recommend. It is just for home use to have down in the basement. I did a search here but did not find any discussions about them. Just curious...thanks for any info.

I have the Easton one found at Sports Authority. It was originally like $500 or something, but I got the floor model from a store that was closing for $99.
For $500 the quality doesn't seem that good. It does the job, works well, but its like MDF board almost, with really thin legs that have a large plastic cover on them and all that. It looks quality, but when you look under it, it's just basic.
So, what I'm trying to say is that maybe quality is the differentiator for price, though even the basic ones will do the job.

We have a Sportcraft Turbo Hockey table. It looks like the one shown on this link: http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/x-tr...hockey-table-3 .
My wife bought it at Sam's in Dec. 2007 for Christmas for me. Great table, very sturdy, plays well and we love it. The downside is that it is heavy, so it took 4 people to carry the box upstairs. I was able to assemble it by myself although I did need help lifting the table onto the legs... but that was it.

Costco used to have a very inexpensive line of foosball / air hockey tables. I had the foosball table, it was sturdy as hell, and under $200 if I remember.
I had an old school air hockey table from the 70's or 80's, sold it for $50 at a garage sale. That may be your best bet, craigslist or local newspaper ads. It seems like the type of item that is probably sold for cheap quite often when people move or get bored of it.
