WTF is with these chest pains???
OK, so about two months ago I started getting these somewhat dull, then some what sharp chest pains. Right smack over the left side of my chest. Right where my pumper is... OK... It's gotta be a pulled muscle, right? The pain hasn’t really traveled anywhere; e.g. down my arm or into my neck. But it’s very uncomfortable nonetheless.
So fucking shit... Fast forward to today and they're still occurring. Frequency is pretty much constant. I do awake at night feeling them. It’s not heart-burn, indigestion, etc… Been there, done that.
So I’ve been trying not to worry. After all, I'm 27. In good physical shape…
Now, I read that the FDA as warned about 5 other drugs after the whole Vioxx debacle. Here's the kicker...
I take Advair, the drug being Serevent, which is one of the fucking drugs the FDA said needs "further scrutiny".
Great. So now I'm super-paranoid. I think I need to make some phone calls this morning.
Unreal!

Cause if not, it might still be a stomach/esophogus-related problem.
Could be chest wall pain(like an interior pulled muscle~intrinsic(sp?).
Could be anxiety.

Still trolling
Dealing witht he same thing Scrib. However, me being the super anxious person I am (on 25mg of Paxil a day), nothing surprises me...
I have had interior chest wall discomfort for the past month. Samething, hasn't moved, doesn't radiate, etc. I play paintball, so it's probably related to the whole weekend warrior thing. Some days I don't notice it, others it is a little uncomfortable when I move a certain way.
I don't know what to suggest, but if it was heart related, you wouldn't be having this for 2 months. You may have pulled a muscle in your chest or bruised a rib, which is probably what mine is. Going to the doctor can't hurt, neither could a chest xray, or other test....

Easy way to tell...get a stress echo test done. That'll rule out any heart-related problems and give you a better idea if it's really a stress issue.
You'd be suprised how many peeps are on anxiety meds for just that symptom...

I got that too Scrib, for a month or so. I went to the doctor who made all the test and found nothing. Possibly just mussle related. Now I am fine, no medicine.
I believe taking my life easier is helping.

dude, i just wanna let you know that if it is worse than a chess pain, monitor your anxiety level. Because once your anxious you will make your heart rate sky rocket and can pass out. Most liely it's a pulled muscle. Pulled muscles suck, they never fully heal because you are always using them, and the pain is incredible. Just gert yourself checked out.

It is more than likely due to muscles and ligaments in the chest being sore, but if it is something more serious like Angina you should seek medical attention. When it comes to chest pain you really should see a doctor especially since you are having recurring episodes and have these pains while sleeping.

The (early twenty-something) son of a guy I work with was hospitalized this week with symptoms of a heart-attack. Granted, this guy is NOT in good shape, though not terrible either. He could lose some pounds, let's put it that way.
Anyway, it turned out to be NOT heart-related but most likely IBS (irritable bowel syndrome).
At any rate, stop taking advice from people on a car forum and get to a doctor! Better safe than dead.

damn - I was having chest pains a couple of months ago over 4-5 days. I'm in pretty good shape so I was like what the f*ck. I seriously thought I was about to have a heart attack. But I went to the doctor and everything (EKG) turned out fine. Turns out I had inflamerd rib cartilage - probably from getting elbowed while playing hoops. SO the doctor said if you feel chest pain for more than a 24 hour period, it's probably not cadial. And most cardial related chest pain occur immediately after doing something physical accompanied by shortness of breath. - and then you either get an attack or the pain goes away when you are rested.
The good part of all of this is - I was so sure I was having a heart attack, I swore off fast food completely, not that I ate too much of it before.

Eric, you are NOT dying. At least I hope not. I would check into those drugs though. I took one dose of some drug (can't place the name right now) when I was having some GI issues, it was like this uber laxative, the doc was trying to clean me out, since I had been suffering from persistent nausea over 2 weeks time. Needless to say I hated that shit and quit after one dose, she gave me all sample packs so it was untraced, and about 3 years later I saw reports of that shit causing heart valve problems...needless to say I am glad I bagged it after one dose.

Alot of info here didn't have time to read it all..
IMO it's stress.. Especially with everything you've been through in the past few months with the new house and family etc..
You just need to relax or take a nice vacation.. :twocents:

I had/have the same problem. I forgot the medical term but I spent the whole day in the ER a couple years back for it.
Turns out, it only happens to young healthy adults and it's pretty painful. Mine comes back from time to time. I just pop a few advil.

My dad's cardiologist told me that he had a marathon runner come in complaining of chest pains. The guy didn't have an ounce of fat on him, ate perfectly, etc. Turns out he had a heart attack - one of his arteries was totally plugged.

I'm alive...
I'm going to follow up with my regular doctor next week. Initial diagnosis is Pleuritic chest pain. My wife brought a minor cold home, and I could have a slight touch of it, setting this off.
No test were done other than the standard BP, listen to the chest, etc. Nothing came out of that.
Prescribed some anti-inflamitories... Not sure if I'll fill the 'script. We'll see how the next few days go.
Thanks for all the concerns.
