Treadclimber or other bowflex products

Anyone ever used one of these? What about any other bowflex products? I know nothing beats a real gym and free weights, but I was looking for a good elliptical machine for home when I want to do a quick workout and I decided after much thought to buy a treadclimber. I also kinda liked the Select Tech weights by bowflex but didn't get them. Anyways, comments, thoughts?

the bowflex itself seems useless because the resistance changes at different points and is really uneasy and uncomfy to use

depending how much the machine costs, it might be easier to just go to the gym? dunno just a thought...

Unless you are ready to spend big bucks, I would strongly recommend against buying an elliptical. Or at least try it out before you consider it.... the ellipticals at most gyms are very expensive ($3000+), and the cheapo home versions really can't compare.

And treadclimbers are $2200... they are decent machines (I've heard) but thats a hell of a lot of money just to get some cardio. A jumprope is $7 and gives a better workout in a shorter amount of time.

Yes, we shopped for ellipticals and anything worth buying was AT LEAST $1500. But we lucked out. This fitness store was moving and he had this nice elliptical on the floor and cut the price from about $1500 to $699 and then proceeded to screw up and sell it to us for $599. We actually called him and told him about it and he said don't worry about it, his mistake. But that was one of those one-time deals.

BTW, those Bowflex select weights look pretty cool. My friend had some similar weights called PowerBlock that allowed you to choose the weight by moving some pins and they were pretty cool. Much less than a set of weights that had the same range as his set did. Might be worth checking out:
