Angry Sweating Issue...

Ugh...

So, for the past 4 months or so (or so I think), I've been having a sweating issue that's really getting on my damn nerves. I've never ever had this problem...ever. Well, basically, I am sweating a ton from my pits. I can even hop out of the shower, throw on deodorant, sit down and i'll start droppin sweat...it's gross. It's really bad, because my shirts get extremely soaked in my pit area. I've been wearing an undershirt now to soak up the sweat, but it's even going through that and STILL soaking my overshirt. I am sweating as we speak, and I can't stand it. Has anybody had this problem before? Should I see a dermatologist about this? Thanks for your input.

`John

maybe your shirt is too tight or too thick. buy a bigger looser shirt and try to wear a light color shirt.

Maybe you should go see a doctor. In the meantime, try an undershirt with wicking properties to make the sweat evaporate quicker. It doesn't have to be expensive. Target has the C9 and Walmart has the Starter shirts. I've used them both for running and they work just as well as the more expensive brands. These shirts work best if they're close to the skin but not too confining that they restrict movement or a little looser. If too big, you might as well not use them. Kmart also has the Athletech shirts, I've not used them.

Since it just started, it would probably be a good idea to see a doctor unless you can identify something that changed in your diet, stress level, etc. around the time the excessive sweating began.

Had the same problem, doctor prescribed Drysol, a roll-on liquid anti-perspirant. It's strong stuff, so don't use it if your skin is sensitive. There is an over the counter anti-perspirant called Certain-Dri (Wal-Mart sells it) that has a lower concentration of the same stuff in Drysol. Certain-Dri is obviously easier because you don't need a prescription to get it. Both have worked well for me; I've used them in conjunction with a regular scented anti-perspirant stick.

VERY interesting...and thanks to the other two with your input. I'll have to make an appointment w/ my doc and see what's up. You know what's also weird? It seems like if I DON'T put on deodorant, the amount of sweating is greatly reduced. I'm gonna go buy some of that OTC deodorant and try it out. Thanks again.

I once let this guy in my class use my laptop for 10 mins. and it was soaked with sweat afterwards! I was like wtf were you jacking off? Seriously, I had to take a napkin to absorb all of the fluid before I used it.

Anyway you should go see your doctor. I mean if you really do have the same thing as the guy in my class did, I don't think its something you can have an instant remedy for.

Yup, This stuff WILL solve your problem. Have your DR get you an Rx for it.
I used it for a week and it kept me dry for a whole year! Now, I simply use it once every couple of months with no problems...

If his doctor just gives him a prescription antiperspirant and calls it a day, I think he should get a second opinion.

Something changed pretty radically in his body to have this just start happening all of a sudden. If this were happening to me, rather than just treat the symptom I'd want to get the cause identified and if possible cured so that I wouldn't have to live with it and get prescription antiperspirant for the rest of my life.

Hi John -

I had similar issues as you did a couple of months ago, and it really affected my confidence in work and life... so a couple of things I did was changed my diet to a healthier life style and lost a lot of weight that seemed to help.

Despite that, I still tend to have lapses in excessive sweating, and tried Drysol.. but didn't work to well. I then came across this site: http://www.pharmacy.ca/home.shtml

which has a section on excessive sweating. I have been using the Secure wipes since, and its really changed my life for the better. I tried the 1.5% first, then moved on to the 2.5%, and its been perfect!

Good luck with the second opinion. I don't know of any medical conditions linked to excessive sweating. Let us know what your doc says.

when i first started lifting between 15-17 i had uncontrollable armpit sweat, it was horrible. It went away, but i'm not sure what caused it.

Maybe an increase in metabolism and your body is coping.?

have you been working out more than usual...

another thing to note is that some days, the sweating isn't all that bad...

Lately, I've been wearing several undershirts, yet it still soaks through to my overshirt. As far as working out, I've been very off and on, and I doubt it has anything to do with it, but my mom sure thinks it is related. I'm gonna give the doc a call tomorrow and see when I can go in.

thanks everyone so far with your input

edit: also, I am about 5'9 - 155lbs, so no obesity over here...just a minor beer gut

Small little update...

I went and bought the Certain-Dri and Certain-Dri AM this evening and decided to try it out. I'll keep you guys posted on my status and what not. I'm still working on getting an appointment with the doc; hopefully soon Wish me luck with this crap.
