Steroids: Question for those that have lifted for a while
For those that have lifted seriously for at least one year ..
Tried steroids?
I've never done it, but I remeber when I was realy serious about my working out it was tempting. Especially seeing how big the guys who ere were doing it were. These skinny guys would come into the gym and blow up in half a year.
Anyways, I was just wondering how common it was. (If you are a casual gym person, please dont respond to the poll. Thanks).

Never have, don't plan on it. I look at it like cheating in a video game - sure you can beat the final boss without any effort at all, but what does that prove? Where's the satisfaction in that?
There are genetic limitations to how big you can get without juice, but I'm far from there. My opinion might change a couple years from now when I'm as good as i can get naturally, but until then, it's not even a consideration.

IMO, doing 'roids on a mild level is less harmful for you body than smoking, and other drugs out there... what do I base this on? ...no, not on scientific studies or anything, but base on experience (yes, I've done it) and base on dozens and dozens of friends... I've been around the "Gold's Gym" scene since 87'... In my 35 years of being on this earth, I've heard some much about people dying from lung cancer due to smoking or dying from drinking... Or women having complications with breast implants... (and that's legal) but rarely do you hear about people dying from steroid use.... don't get me wrong, it's happened... its just not as bad as its portraited to be.
...is it cheating? Yeah, in the world of sports, of course it is...
if anything, it's more harmful mentally, once you get off, you lose the size and strength, and you just wanna get back on..

I've been lifting for 7 years, and never have I seriously considered it. I had a brief thought when I was going through a phase where I felt like everyone was bigger than me, but quickly dismissed it. I'm all natural beef. And I like my schlong and boys to stay the way they are. Natural bodybuilding won't get a guy big very fast who's cursed with an ectomorphic body type, but it's sustainable and healthy.

I don't know about the sexual issues other than hearsay, but I can vouch for the 'mean' part of that. I've had a few friends on steroids, all of them turned into complete dickheads. They all had horrible, violent mood swings.

The funny thing is, the guys who do steroids are usually the hardest workeers in the gym. SO ya they are cheating in a way, but all that muscle doesnt just appear magically. They really work their ass off and are extremely serious about it.

I don't know how much of it was the steroids, or how much was the experience of getting huge quickly, but a friend of mine went from 150 to 210 in about 18 months. Before the roids he was a quiet, normal guy. During and after, he was a loud, obnoxious prick. He tried to fight everyone, including his best friends, constantly. Maybe he was always like that but couldn't do it because he was puny before, I don't know. Now he's 150 pounds again, and normal.

If other people want to do em, thats fine with me. I don't think they should be illegal. Banned in sports, yes, but not illegal. It will come back to haunt them later in life, thats punishment enough.

..no, I hear ya.... I know guys like that too... but man!! 60lbs in 18 months is a lot!! Pick up a 60lbs dumbbell, and that's how much MORE he's walking around with... so tough on the heart... I bet he was breathing heavy from just going up a flight of stairs, huh?

I simply do NOT have the wide built body type to accomplish that. I can guarantee myself that I'll never be that big, no matter how hard I try. The very best I can hope for is 200. I've set my goal to be 200lbs by the time I'm 30 years old. I think that's pretty reasonable. I don't believe my body frame could carry more than that.

and wearing girl's jeans
. I'm glad I found a bf who's a thick football boy. Anyway, I digress. HGH, while much safer than roids, could potentially cause unwanted problems. I'm just not willing to take the risks. And I feel better about myself knowing that what I have is sustainable.

This is his website. There's no nudity. He doesn't look too roidish to me.
