Removing stretch marks

I have stretch marks on my biceps and shoulder (some on chest between bi and chest) due to lifting and muscles growing too rapidly. I have seen commercials for Maderma, but I heard it really doesn't work. Others have suggested coconut oil/butter? Any suggestions?

i think vitamin e is supposed to help. someone recommended buying vit. E pills and breaking them open, and rubbing the liquid on scars.

I don't normally care, but it looks dumb in the summer because stretch marks don't tan.

Yeah, cocoa butter is a wonder cream, not only does it reduce stretch marks, it fades scars, and keeps me from getting ashy

Vitamin E is junk ... I used to suggest it but it doesn't work. I heard about coco butter ... give it a try ... have no real experience with it or seen results.

Only thing I've heard that works is laser ... done in a medical clinic. Probably means it's pricey.

The trainer at the gym said stretch marks are like trophies...because it shows you got a lot bigger...

I dont exaclty agree with what he says...

As I underdstand, stretch marks are permanent, and don't listen to some coach who says they're trophies. There are plenty professional bodybuilders w/o them to disprove THAT theory.

Cocoa butter helps with the PREVENTION of stretch marks. The most you can hope is that their appearance can be diminished somehow.

shieeeet... i have 2 stretch marks on my stomach. I did some research online and stretch marks are usually formed in your teenage years when your rapidly growing. This blows ass, it looks so nasty. I also read that over time they usually fade away, not completely, but to the point where it's not really noticeable. blah

i've had my marks for over 5 years now, but they don't really bother me anyway. i haven't considered trying to get rid of them, but if it's going to be a pain in the ass or requires maintenance, it's not for me.

I think Mederma is used mostly to reduce scar tissue. However, folks react differently to it; my wife tried it on a traech scar, and the flesh nearby reacted badly, became tender and red - so we stopped.

Stretch marks are just that, the skin stretching from any cause and then building up scar tissue to fill in for it. It doesn't matter what's causing the stretching.

ew...is it just your skin type then? i know some fat people without them, and i lift like crazy and dont have any, and i can visually notice changes in my muscle size

Again, it depends on the rate of increase. If you allow sufficient time for your skin to adapt, then there is a smaller likelihood of developing them. However, if you gain a lot of weight very quickly, you are more likely to experience them. It is also dependent upon how well you take care of your skin during the period of rapid growth. There are a lot of factors that affect it, so anything is possible. However, I find it hard to believe that you don't have any, not even around joints, where they are most likely to develop.

I did the same thing once. No strech marks on the way up but if you stop lifting and shrink down a bit you'll see them.

I've been working out for 5 years now and i have come to the conclusion that STretch marks are almost inevitable when working out. Especially when u wanna get bigger. 95% of body builders have stretch marks. Cocoa butter helps the elasticity of the skin but wont really get rid of them if you already got them. Vitamin e helps to, i heard but usually used for skin irritations. IMOA, stretch marks are there to stay!

i weighed 200lbs before lifting at all and i have very little fat, so its not a big increase in mass, im huge anyway. its not like going from 140 to 220

i got freaked out cuz i dont want to have stretch marks, so i checked my body head to toe and i have none

i figure why not do it naturally and avoid forcing all sorts of things that arent found in foods into my body

i dont want to get thick...theres a big difference between how much you can bench, and how many times you can bench it...im not looking for just gaining mass, i want to get chiseled and toned, so i dont need things to boost muscle mass

the you make me sad thing was meant for saying that ill have stretch marks which are gross and allegedly dont tan

do whatever the heck you want, i could care less, i meant that im not gaining mass as quickly, so i hope i dont get those things

If it was really part of your "potential" it wouldn't disfigure your body like that.
And they look dumb as hell, no matter how big you are.
