Quads hurt when squatting? (Rippetoe's)

I'm on a 3 day a week lifting cycle:

M- Lift
T - Off
W- Lift
Th - Off
F - Lift
Sat/Sun- off/off

But this week cause of finals I decided to skip the 2 days of rest and re-start my cycle on Sunday.

I squat heavy every time I'm in the gym (not to failure though) ((Rippetoe's Starting Strength Routine)), and today I started to feel a bit of pain in my quads. (If the quads are the front thigh muscles right above the knee).

It was sort of a searing/aching pain that now aches whenever I straighten out my leg. I didn't finish my lifts in fear of further messing something up, but wanted to know if this is a normal place to be feeling pain in the case of using too heavy of weights during squats?

I feel my form is pretty decent, but am worried that I may be putting too much weight on the front of my feet to cause this pain, cause I have never felt this before.

Cliffs:
-Went back early on weekly cycle.
-Weird pain on heavy squats developed in quads (inner part right above knee) midway through.
-Wondering if pain here is normal, or whether I'm possibly putting too much weight forward...

hmm, not the best advice but my says you may have put too much weight after taking a couple days off. Try doing a little less than you normally do and see how you feel during your normal lifting cycle.

Squat heavy, but do it no more than once a week.

I squat typically 3 times a week and I've never felt that sort of pain...

Are you absolutely sure you have correct form? Try to keep your weight balanced evenly between the heel and toe. Also, make sure you have good shoes with good support. Other than that, maybe take a few days off and see if it gets any better, maybe you just pulled something?

Why are you squating 3 times a week? Most likely VERY overkill.

If you look up Rippetoe's Starting Strength Routine, it's a lifting routine based on compound lifts that centers around squats.

I reset my weight back down to 180 and am going to build up again.

I'll keep posted if I get the same problems. Thanks all.

that's how Rippetoe's is...go argue w/ Rippetoe himself, and the millions of others who have had amazing results on it

I'm sorry to hear that you're having pain in your quads bro. I would definitely do a reset of about 20lbs maybe and go from there since you went on break. Good luck getting back on routine

I don't train any muscle 3 times/week (other than abs and calves), I'm on a 5 days on 1 day off regiment , or 4 days on 1 day off, if I do chest and shoulders together, my chest take no effort to build, actually gets too big at times...

There is no system that works for everyone, regardless of how many people it works for.

If you have pain from a routine, change it up. It's that simple.
