I hate 24 hour fitness in Sherman Oaks.
RANT THREAD:
I got on the 24 hour fitness family plan w/ my girlfriend about a year ago.
It's $30/month for unlimited access to be added to her plan.
First of all, the location isn't great. You have to pay for parking if you forget to validate your parking. You have to do that EVERY single time you go. It's annoying.
Second of all, the parking SUCKS.
Third of all, they don't have a lot of free weights. Lots of machines though. And, if you go during a peak time, there are literally lines at the treadmills. And, over the PA, they yell "please, 20 minutes max on all cardio equipment" - 20 minutes?!
Fourth of all, they've been overcharging me $35+ more a month. I just looked at my bank statement and noticed they charged me again for $65 a month.
I'm pissed off because about two months ago my charge was fine. It was $30 a month. I lost my debit card (the card on the account), so they froze my account because it wasn't being charged. I went in finally (I barely even go to this gym ) and gave them my new debit card number. So anyway, all is well. Next month I notice they charged me $65. I was like wtf. So, I went in and complained. They said "Oh well, we had to charge you for 2 months since you lost your card and we didn't bill you" I was like, ok, that's fair.
It's total bullshit! They've been charging me $65 a month for three months now. UGH.

It all depends on location, I for one, am getting more than what I pay for with my membership. I don't know if you have ever heard of Simi Valley, but it's a mid-size city just west of the SFV. We have 2 24hr fitness's. One is a Sport and the other is an Active.
I will never go to the Active one. It's basically just a regular gym without a pool, spa, steam room, etc.
On the other hand, the Sport is the best gym I have ever been too. There is virtually never a wait for any single machine in the gym (even during peak time). Hell you can run on a treadmill for the whole 24 hours of the day and no one will even say a word to you. It has a basketball, volleyball and a tennis court.
I think you just need to find a better location, the 24hr part of the gym is the best thing ever made and I don't think I'll ever switch to a different gym.
Also, you need to look again at your membership options. I pay 24.99 and my friend that's on the same plan with me pays 15.99 so we just even it out at $20 a month. Best 20 dollar bill I spend all month.

I hate 24 Hour Fitness period. Their gyms always smell like rancid nutsack juice. Every time I step into 24 its humid like Florida in the summer. I can hardly breathe in that place, I'll do medium cardio for 15 minutes and won't be able to continue, whereas I can go for 25+ at Bally's. Seriously, the locker rooms smell just as bad as the rest of the gym.
Rant from the other side, had a 30 day trial for 24's and decided to pass. However Bally's is just as lame, I started a contract with my cousin (joint membership) and discovered that I can't separate the payments (half on his dad's credit card and half on mine), so I'm SOL. It's annoying to have to remind his ass to pay for his part of the bill and my uncle always bitches at me when I come over about how we got sucked into this scheme by Bally's to take our money.
How much is it for a 3-year unlimited contract at 24? It's unlimited use, $49 a month for both me and my cousin, we split it in half. Did we get ripped off or was it an ok deal? At the end of the 3 years it will be $30 for both of us each month, but we still can't split the membership in half.

Stealing your card info and using it is a crime. Although I'm not sure how seriously you want to take it.

I'm on the phone with 24 hr fitness and they're telling me the last guy entered in the account information incorrectly and I'll have to wait another 5-7 business days WTF
