Gold's Gym
How much should i expect to pay for an annual membership? Is it around like $600? thanks. I called a gym near me but they won't discuss price over the phone. Does this mean you can negotiate the membership fee?

You can negotiate, but generally they will just waive the sign on fee.

Most membershisp have some "negotiability" to them, but be careful before you sign on the dotted line to see what escape and termination clauses you are agreeing to. I believe Bally's is notorious for getting you to commit to contracts that are almost impossible to break save by dying...

signed up for a nice one year deal, nothing too bad, got a free month out of it and i paid like $120 to join and $39 a month
then found out they "started" my membership on the contract like 3 months after i actually started, which i can kick myself for not noticing, so after i moved i couldn't quit until a year from the start date listed, even though it was like a year and 3 months
and they have all the usual bs to get out of the contract, and then some
find a local gym if you can, gold's sucks imo...
edit: on a side note all the gym's in northern virginia are ungodly expensive, so 120 +39 seemd like a good deal by comparison

If you buy personal training certs, read the fine print on those as well. In NYC it's common that they have a use-it-or-lose-it provision, that's typically shorter than 1 year.

There is a Gold's near me that just fully opened. A few months back they were offering "construction pricing" that would give you $20 a month for life. I have no idea what it is now.
NYSC was hella expensive. Like $55 a month and it wasn't even that big of a location. The only thing good about NYSC was that it was month to month, no contract.

but i believe the answer is NO. I was looking at deals for various golds gyms and found one that was really cheap (like 20 dollars/month), but then found out that if i signed up for it it wouldn't transfer to the local gold's gym (because each gym is an independantly owned franchise).

Got da Internet Goin Nutz
A Gold's membership works at all Gold's gym.
They have a special rate for students 3months for $99. You pay up front, no contract and no automatic renewal. Works damn good!
