I drank it this morning and basically tasted like drinking half oil.. I had it as breakfast before my morning gym sesh but wondering if this would be a good meal replacement to try and cut some fat before my wedding in 2 months.

Any thoughts? (I'm all for real protein (i.e. chicken, etc.) over stuff like this and can't do whey due to being lactose intolerant.. Plant protein has been a godsend and I try to have a shake before gymming as well. I'm pretty active but I"m thinking to shed the last of the belly fat, it's time to turn to dieting.
It doesn't really matter much what you do, just consume less than you burn and you'll lose weight. You need fats and carbs to live, can't cut them out. Do you have the nutritional info for the soylent you're drinking? Post it up here.

Man fuck whey. Real food is always better. Just do what Sam said and start there. Eat cleaner, less, exercise a little more. When you plateau add a set, add weight, do a little more.

Whey is the way I eat less, guey.

I guess it really depends on the person. If I consume a lot of dairy I get gassy af and my farts are only slightly less lethal than what the nazis used. If I'm not careful I will get mudbutt.

But if I mix whey with a bit of water then add lactaid, it barely registers.

Then again I don't like veggies so I need to supplement with fiber. Real food is best, indeed.

I think I do a good amount of exercise on a daily basis. If I don't go to the gym, I'll at last go for a multi-mile walk every day to burn some extra calories. Maybe I just need to move up from the 2 pound to the 3 pound weights now..

Thanks for the insight all.

Absolutely. It's a supplement. Many swear by it but it's better used out of convenience rather than necessity.

Just trying to lean out the extra belly fat I have around the waist. I'm a typically lean guy already but there's just some extra that I'm finding a very difficult time getting rid of. I'm 5' 11" and 180 pounds and according to BMI tables I've seen, that's "overweight" but I don't take those tables as seriously because I have much more muscle than fat (avid cyclist) so big legs.

back to my original post, I always knew that the belly fat was the hardest to get rid of and heard diet was the most crucial hurdle to overcome this final piece.

Forgot to ask your age. And yeah don't sweat the pounds. It def is diet. Do weights not interest you at all? You can still lose weight, have more stomach muscle, and be stronger and do as much exercise "effort" but more efficiently. I'm not saying do a bro bodybuilder workout either where you're in the gym hours a day.

Turning 30 soon.

I mean i still pump iron but not into "max reps" and PR for deadlift and the like. I think my core is pretty strong as is so there's definitely the muscle underneath, just fat on top said muscle needs to go

I mean you don't have to do shit like max reps because then you're talking about messing up connective tissue. PR's are just a thing that happen to happen. If you've never lifted it before, it's a PR. All I'm saying is, you don't have to live at the gym to get to your goals. I go 3 days a week like 90 mins each to lump in cardio and I'm 40 doing ok lean/size, health, and blood level-wise. Compound lifts like bench, squat, deadlift, overhead press (standing military) capture so many muscles and are super efficient. Then you can do cardio on "off" days or after. You won't lose much fat doing curls and calf raises, but they're nice secondary exercises. You don't seem to care about having working out every inch of your body like most of the gym bros.

awww shittt curls and calf raises are all I do no wonder I haven't been seeing any results

Like I mentioned before, I'm much happier just being lean then getting any specific muscle group larger. I'll start focusing more on compound exercises. Thanks Doom!
