Does anyone else use a medicine ball?
I have never used one until the other day when i ordered one. I wanted something else besides weight training to help with my core.
Let me tell you, after only a couple minutes monday and tuesday, i can really feel it.
It is awkward to use if you have never used one before. You don't really need to do more than 5-10 minutes worth of exercises to get results.
I bought an 8lb fitness ball which is smaller and i thought it was a regular medicine ball which is a bit smaller than a basketball.
There are some things you can and can't do with that. It's snooth and no grip. The other one i just ordered is also 8lb and has texture so it doesn't slip out of my hands as well.

try out a bosu ball.
it helps with balance and core work. its half a sphere in which you stand on. flip it upside down and you can stand on the flat part as well.
incorporate some medicine ball training with the bosu ball and you'll not only working your core but your balance as well.
theres also some cool strength training exercises that UFC fighters use with the medicine ball.

I'm not hating, just a little. I understand why you would do it. I have a male straight cousin who is a cheerleader for psu football. He is one of the nicest, straight, friendly, fun people you would ever meet. I told him way to go.

If you are really a rockstar, try keep your heels on the ground throughout the exercise.
Justin prolly has the most experience with the medicine ball but one exercise we do in the dojo is line up facing your partner with about 10 feet of space. If you're feeling adventurous increase the distance. Throw the ball with 2 hands then go immediately into a sprawl. On completion of the sprawl, catch the ball and repeat. Your partner is doing the same thing vice-versa.
This is pretty good for MMA and really gets one comfortable with sprawling to counter the doubleleg takedown.
