For the cyclists

For anyone that rides a trainer when the weather is bad or early in the morning before work.

Anyone who has ever used rollers knows that you can only sit and ride but not anymore.

Take a look at these rollers.

http://www.rockingrollers.com

They are sick, I tried them out at my local bike shop and am now looking to get a set, you cannot fall off them like conventional rollers. You just bang into the side bumpers which keep you on. You can stand and sprint or try standing simulate climbing a steep hill.

The only drawback is they are not cheap. $800.

Hmmm ... looks interesting. The only drawback to this over a trainer is space. Rollers just take up so much room. Luckily, the winters aren't too long here, and it only rains, so I can still ride. I'll have to check my local shop to see if I can try them out.

I still can't justify them yet.

My Kreitler rollers still have a lot of life left. But when they do die I probably will get these.

Yes standard rollers, which can run around $100 or stands that lock in the rear wheel.

Rollers take a little skill and practice. You will ride off the side while you are learning to use them, but you do not do the wile e. coyote and take off. You just loose all that was keeping you upright (centripical force from the wheels) and tip over.

rear wheel trainers are good. two main types are fluid and magnetic. the fluid ones are smoother and therefore more expensive. you should be able to find one for around 200-300. magnetic ones go for around 100.

Forgot fluid and magnetic, and yea fluid is much better.

Also look on ebay, a lot of people buy these things and never use them.
