Bikes
When on a stationary bike what is the equivalent to running for 30 minutes on a treadmill at 7mph. I have asthma attacks while running but not while biking during the winter/spring (fine during the summer) so I have been riding but I have never ridden on a stationary bike before so I dont know how hard or long to work. I have been doing 5 miles in 20 minutes lately once a day before working out...is that enough?

in my opinion, it's comparing apples to oranges...but as far as distance goes, 30 minutes on the treadmill going 7mph would = 3.5 miles...and 5 miles on the bike in 20 minutes would = 1 mile every 4 minutes which would = 14 minutes for 3.5 miles
but the fact that you can run 7mph for 30 minutes means you should do far more than 5 miles in 20 minutes on the bike...i can ride 15 miles in 30 minutes on the stationary bikes set at random, and you should prolly be right at that pace, if not very close

You would need to bike for at least an hour.

Depends on your speed and resistance on the bike, and how much you weigh when calculating calories burned on a treadmill. It's hard to gauge without that info. But for reference, on a LifeCycle on Level 10 at a cadence of 100, I burn about 700 calories an hour. When I run on the treadmill at 6 mph, I burn about 850 calories an hour. I weigh about 170.
