update...
finished in 5:54:47 - 104.5 miles
averaged ~17.4mph
only spent an hour total at rest areas versus over 2 hours back in Aug., plus i shaved over an hour off my ride time of 7 hours back in Aug as well
pics to follow...

Congrats Chris great time
I was riding on Montauk Highway yesterday, we kept passing all the people on that.
But I did an out and back for a total of 84 miles, 42 of it into the 20 mph headwind (that SUCKED!!!!) for an average of 18.5.
So for the weekend I did a total of 140 miles.
I am still preparing for my century on June 4th the Bike-Boat-Bike ride across Shelter Island.

im just glad the weather held out as well as it did...wound up starting at about 6:30 and finished in the 1:45 area...rain started bout an hour later
and yes, the headwind was a pisser in spots...the last mile we got hit with easy 40 - 50mph gusts so bad i almost blew backwards off my bike, it was nuts...the last 6 miles of hills on Old Montauk Hwy felt like they were never gonna end heh

nice work Chris, good time!
I find that when i do long rides like a century, stopping for anything is about the worst thing i can think of. I just like to ride until it's over and then rest. It's too hard to get the legs back warmed up, and the motivation going after a stop IMO.

I just completed my fist century in a long time.
We did the bike-boat-bike ride across Shelter Island. 108 miles in 5:54 for an average of 18.3 which is not bad as of all the stops and (where the fuck am I's)
The one problem we had with this was the markings on the road, a number of them were too close to the turn. Here you are going along at 15 mph and the marking for the turn is about 10 feet before the turn. One of my riding buddies wife is one of the organizers of this ride and after the ride we informed her of this deficiency.
And Astro, you are right, except for the food and bathrooms at the rest stop's I could as just as well do without them.
