Question Question about DRL w/LED's

So if I pull the DRL fuse and swap out the halogen DRL's for LEDs would I see the "DRL error" light up on the dashboard or nah?

Thanks!

No. You also won't see it if you fork over a few extra dollars and find an MT-G2 LED kit. The controller box has built in resistors so it doesn't trip the DRL error light and can also operate at low and high voltage ranges so you don't lose your high-beam function.

I'm confused. Many here have made the jump to LED because they don't like the yellow look of the DRL's. They do this understanding that as a high-beam, they'll get less light output/functionality. But their DRL's are whiter.

If I understand what you're proposing, you intend to pull the DRL fuse, to eliminate the DRL's altogether (no more "yellow"...no anything), but still get the reduced effectiveness of the LEDs as high-beams.

What am I missing?

You can either:

1.) Pull your DRL fuse - your DRL will not turn on anymore but you will still maintain high beam functionality. OR,

2.) Switch to LEDs - your DRLs will be white/blue, but you will definitely reduce the efficiency of your high beams..

Neither of these will cause a "DRL error."

I personally pulled the DRL fuse because I hated the yellow, but I still have normal high beams whenever I need to use them. There are some LEDs kits out there with big ass heat sinks that draw a lot more power than normal LEDs. These will make it look like your low beam headlights are on and your high beams will still be bright.

I got Philips LXR7-SW57 LEDs for my DRLs/High beams and i am very happy with them overall. The only problem is that they are a little too bright to be on as DRLs in the late afternoons or early mornings. After a while i decided to pull the fuse and use them only as high beams. The light output is much higher than stock bulbs. Not to mention the color is pure white.

I just had these installed today and they are honestly perfect.

Awesome DRL I haven't tested the high beam yet much, but they are a perfect match with my stock xenons and Morimoto LED fog lights when switching back and forth.

Very oem looking color come out of these I was skeptical buying from China, but I will vouch for these.

All feedback is good, but it's a bit premature to vouch for these if you don't know how they affect highbeams. There are already a lot of options out there that give good daytime colour, but make the highs useless.

I think the consensus switching the DRL/Highbeam to an LED has concluded that you will be sacrificing some functionality of the Highbeam. So, with that being understood I still vouch for the Chinese lights on the color, quality and brightness of the DRL alone.

I have the V-LED's version of those kits sold by AliExpress and they are brighter as high-beams than the stock halogens.

Looks good. I just got some Morimoto Type-S LED Fogs and was looking into getting my DRLs and side markers to match.
