2012 radiator support

I have a 2012 TL SH-AWD and I need the radiator support assembly. Can somebody tell me what the difference is between the part for the base vs. sh-awd? The oem part number is 60400-tk5-a10zz for sh-awd and 60400-tk4-a10zz for base. Looking for aftermarket parts the parts link number is AC1225130 which only cross references to the base oem number. I bought an AC1225125 from Amazon because it said it would fit but it was about 3 inches too narrow across the top. It did fit between the frame rails and everything else seemed to fit right. If the AC1225130 will fit I can save about $100 to $200 over oem. Any help here would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

I've learned the hard way that aftermarket body panels and structural members can vary greatly in their ability to "fit" correctly.
Nevertheless cost is always a determining factor in the decision to purchase aftermarket or OEM.

Those two part number you mentioned seems to vary in cost form about $322 to $400 on Amazon.
The OEM part cost is $356.78 from an online supplier.

Thanks for the reply. I have been through a lot of the OEM stores and this would be the way to go the problem is the shipping almost doubles the cost. Amazon and some of the other aftermarket suppliers have similar prices but shipping is way cheaper.

I’ve learned that the AC1225125 will not work because it lines up with OEM 60400-TK4-A00ZZ and appears to be for 09-11 TLs. The AC1225130 lines up with OEM 60400-TK4-A10ZZ and the OEM sites say I need 60400-TK5-A10ZZ. So, I guess what I’m really asking is “what about the part is different for the TK4 version versus the TK5 version?”

Funny enough, I can answer your question now.

I just picked up my 2010 6MT from the body shop after getting a full respray and 2012+ front end swap. I built my own custom grille based on the 2012 parts, which I didn't give to the body shop, so I drove home to install it myself.

Come to find out, the mounting holes for the grille on the front bulkhead are different for both years:

This is the driver's side, but the same issue is on the passenger side. This is what happens when you mount a 2012 grille base to a 2010 front bulkhead. Notice the mounting holes on the left line up, but the mounting holes on the right do not. I'm not sure if there are any other differences, but this is the main one I've just found, and I actually wondered the same thing when you made this thread .

That’s good to know Riboflavin. I’m already returning the part I got from Amazon which was for 09-11 TL so, at least I won’t have to scratch my head over missing holes. I did breakdown the component parts of the 60400-TK4-A10ZZ and the 60400-TK5-A10ZZ and found the only difference is the bottom crossmember. Not sure what the difference is between base and sh-awd and the dealer couldn’t tell me either but guessed holes needed for additional components on the sh-awd.

I did find one way to save money. Parts ordered from www.alldiscountparts.com are fulfilled from Fischer Acura in Boulder Colorado, my nearest Acura dealer. When I ordered the part from the dealer they wanted to charge me $530 which was about the same as the website price with shipping. Once I figured out the website and dealer had the same address I called the dealer back and asked what gives. He said he would refund my money and I ordered the part from the website for $350 and selected no shipping. So, I saved the shipping charges and just have to pick up the parts myself from the same place I had to go anyway. Moral of the story is most of these discount OEM websites are tied to a dealer so, before you pay shipping or pay the dealer’s outrageous prices see if you can find the discount site for your nearest dealer, order your part and choose no shipping and pick the part up yourself if possible.
