Rear damage to total theft loss-pics

I had a 2004 tsx with 7,000 miles. It got rear ended with an estimated damage of $2,200. While it was still being repaired at the body shop(Bellevue Auto Rebuild) it got stripped in the middle of the night. They estimated about $16,000 in just parts alone was stolen. Probably a total loss at no fault of mine and Belluvue Auto Rebuild wants my insurance to pay for it too. WTF!!!!
here are the pics.
quess what wheels these are.

Damn....that's painful to see. Was your car parked outside? No way should your insurance pay for that.

Let me guess. Its your car's fault for looking soooo good as to attract thieves in the middle of the night? The shop's insurance should pay for that loss.

They left my car parked on the side of their shop. anybody could have walked up to it. Some people think its never their fault.

Dude, that sucks... sorry you gotta deal with that.

Was the battery disconnected? Because the OEM alarm would trigger off of punching that lock and opening the door... and disabling it would involve pulling power, which would make starting it hard afterwards...

Possible that that was the last thing done to it... maybe it wasn't even locked?

it's the body shop's fault because they took possession of the car. the shop is liable for damages once they take the car from you. no way should your insurance pay for it, but they might be the ones who have to go to battle for you if the shop wants the insurance company to pay for it. either way, shop's at fault.

anyway, sorry to hear about this. really sucks. where is the shop (city) where this happened?

CGTTSX-your right ! 17x8.5 NSX wheels.

Elduderino - I think they punched the lock and once they got in, they open the hood and disconnected the battery or snipped some wires. I'm pretty sure they never got it started(thanks to immobi) they just stripped the heck out of it. Do you have recommendation on decent auto alarm shops in the Seattle vacinity?

The shop is Bellevue Auto Rebuild in Bellevue Washington. They usually fix high end cars like Mercedes, BMW, Volvo etc. I guess they decided a modded Acura TSX wasn't worth being parked behind their lock fence at night.

the shop is totally liable for this damage. i'm supprise the 8" width can fit on the tsx. i think the usdm integra type r uses similar wheel design but smaller. ssr gt7 or the prodrive gc-07 looks like the nsx too. but HOT combo!

yeah, but if so, the insurance company shouldn't give acuradog here a hard time with this in case they need to get involved. also, i'm guessing that's one of the reasons why the shop is bsing about needing the insurance company to take care of it. obviously, the main reason is because it's their fault and they don't want to pay.

Statel600 - I don't have the car since its not drivable(no headlights or seats). Sorry about your door panel, I had 35% Lumar tint with moleskin.
My insurance company still has to provide me the value of a 2004 TSX. So I think they will just tow it to a salvage auction.

I'd suggest getting the hood trim and wheels back for your next TSX if that's the case

I doubt they ever tried to start it..it looks like they had all of the time in the world whereever they were working. Apparently the shop doesn't have security cameras. Did you get a police report?

The shop prolly is panicking because they are going to get in deep shit with their garagekeeper's carrier. They are most def @ fault since they didn't take the utmost care of your property (bailee liability is far more strict than simple negligence, they are supposed to take care of your property as if it were there own).

Further, I bet on the application they claimed they only parked cars inside or in a locked and gated area with security. That's a material misrepresentation... and while not really grounds for cancellation, I bet it means a non-renewal for them, especially for a $16k claim.

Talk to your carrier, get them involved. They may call up the garage and threaten them for you, or in the worst case, put in a OTC claim and let them go to subro.

Wow. That sucks bigtime.

I'm certain that somehow, you will be repaid in full. Maybe, like you said, with all the stuff missing, and the damage, it'll be a write-off, and you can get a brand new 2005 TSX!

Anybody notice how they didn't steal the aibag or steering wheel? Aren't those things still hot commodities? (I suppose there is the danger factor when stealing one of those that you could screw up and have your block knocked off...)
