Thanks!! It isn't an exact science because use of the keys are different by everyone and accidents of course happen.

actually just used an xacto knife to carve the excess needed to fit the 'A'. Completely flush with the key A lil bit of loctite and it's all set

p.s. that lil white spec next to the emblem mustve came from my camera

Key Mod Prob

First post for me everyone.

I have an 06 TL that I had Ryan do the key mod for. He did a great job - nice work!

I knew about losing control of the seat position from the fob from reading all the posts in the thread.

I'm having one problem, however. I programmed the key per instructions and it locks/unlocks and pops the trunk just fine. The problem is that whenever I use it I lose all the keyless memory settings and radio station presets. This has nothing to do with the seat positions. I use the memory button on the door for the seat if I need to.

If I switch to the #2 acura key and fob, the memory settings and radio presets all come back but they disappear again as soon as I return to using the modded Honda key.

I have already traded PMs with Ryan. He said it sounds like I did everything right. He suggested I post here since he has an 04 and I have an 06. He thought someone with an 06 might know how to work around this.

I must be missing something or doing something wrong. Can anyone help?

RSX Fob Mod?

Hi, I'm a noob, so forgive me if I'm repeating questions...I've read most of this thread, but not all 9 pages...

Has this or can this mod also be done for an 03 RSX? My fob looks essentially identical to the TSX, except there's no trunk button.

I'm also still not entirely clear if I can get a blank Honda key programmed for my RSX.

What about batteries for the modded fob? There's a battery in the Acura fob, but it seems as though the modded fobs are epoxied shut. Am I missing something?

Bailey

welcome to the forums beetle! enjoy...

hm, honestly not positive about the RSX question cuz i havent seen/heard anyone mod for that key...

the battery however is completely accessible. the tiny screw on the key fob is functional as it allows for batterly replacement. As you'll notice, moda_way is the guru here so he can help u out for sure

The RSX is a bit more tricky. It uses the transmitter frequency from the Accord key, but it looks goofy to have the trunk pop button, so what I have done for one owner is mod the Accord transmitter into a Pilot key. The Pilot transmitter is not the same. So you have 2 choices:

1. Buy a Pilot key and an Accord key and have them modded into the Pilot key.
2. Buy an Accord key and just live with the third button.

ALSO, the RSX key does not have enough material to be modded into the key bed of the Pilot/Accord key, so it is best to have a key blank cut at the hardware store and just use the immobilizer chip out of your RSX key. The RSX has an immobilizer chip that looks more like a glass cylinder than that of our TSX which looks just like a chip.

So in summary, can this be done... Absolutely. It is a bit more costly to do the RSX since having the trunk unlock looks kinda goofy.

PM me if you have any more questions. BTW, I've done 1 RSX into a Pilot key already.

Thanks for the info...I can't wait to get rid of this big ugly remote!

Or.... you can do what i inadvertantly did. Purchase the accord keys without the trunk button. Not sure if you remember me posting about this but i bought some off of ebay, they were missing the trunk button. I eventually sent them back and got the 3 button ones and sent those over to Moda Way.. btw

I got them yesterday!!!! woot! it looks great and i programmed it in seconds. Thanks moda for excellent service and quality!!

They can be reprogrammed, but some dealers will charge you an hour of labor to do it. You have to check with your individual dealer to see if they will charge you to do it.

I was grinding my key today to make this key fob, and once I got near the cement, I slowed down. However, I ended up grinding too deep and made a few pretty good scratches on my immobolizer...ACK! My Accord key is coming today, so do you guys recommend I just take the chip from the hona remote and get it programmed by the dealership, or should I try again on my valet key?

No, use the chip you put the marks on. It should be fine. It is inert.

Use a razor knife and scribe around it to loosen the clear plastic, then use something small like a tiny flat head to pry it out. Just be careful, those little suckers can come flying out of there.

if you want to test if it works, you should be able to take a copy of your key, and put the immobilizer chip nearby and see if your car will start before you assemble the accord key. I put some marks on my chip and was worried, but it worked perfectly

It was the same master key ive used the entire time. I just removed the immobilizer, and cut the key to fit in the new keyfob. The manual says to turn the wheel but it didnt work.

Damn...yea that's what i would think to do too, turning the steering wheel. I'm sure you've tried endlessly - but have you tried turning the steering wheel and the key at the same time? Maybe it triggers something simultaneously?

Apparently, my cylinder lock release was not fully engaging. They told me that if it happens again, try wiggling my shift knob while in park to get it back into place....unusual, but whatever. Moda, check your pm. Thanks.
