2004 Acura TSX Oil Leak - Oil Pump vs. Solenoid 2.4 i-Vtech
Just wanted to post my experience in case it helps out others as searching the web for this oil leak issue was tough but eventually found some help but on a video too....
Basically had a relatively decent oil leak develop pretty quickly. Not enough to have to add oil often but definitely enough to coat a lot of the underneath of the right side of the car and drip all over wherever I parked.
Wasn't sure where it was coming from so I took some pics and brought them to the dealer. The dealer was certain it was the oil pump and would be $1,500. After some more web search, I found the vid and thought I'd give it a shot first, as it was only a $4.50 part and a couple hours.
I couldn't tackle it all from underneath or the top without pulling the valve cover off...I am sure a better mechanic (which I am not) could.
The only trick, after clearing the top and making some room was for me to be under the car, with the ratchet and put and hold the socket on each of the three bolts while someone from the top used the business end to turn it. When I tried along from the top, felt like I might strip it and didn't have a good angle from the bottom alone.
...and everything was basically a 10mm
Good luck,
J

Some pics of part off, the block, etc.
After replacing that part's gasket (same one pictured in the video), gave the motor a good clean and (knock on wood) no more oil leak.
Good luck all.

Good bit of information. On my Honda Prelude this was a common issue as well that caused oil leaks I wouldn't be surprised if you actually took the car in to the dealership and let them look at it that they would have tried that gasket first. Still would have charged you probably $300+ for it all but better than $1500.

You have more faith in dealers than I do.
My guess is they'd change both and charge me $1,800....ha ha

Same problem
Thanks I've been chasing this for some time myself. I observed where it was coming from underneath the car while it was running and I had it on Jack stands. I could see a steady drop coming from here while it was running.i wasnt sure exactly what was leaking and this provided the answer. I'd say it just started leaking around 160k.

Based off of the dimensions that I see here: https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/45251tl0g51
I think you're better off just using a TLX front rotors.

I wonder if the TLX calipers fit?
