I want to add a remote start option to the factory alarm sysytem. I dont want to give up the remote or add a second it looks to cool as is. Can a remote start system be integrated into our 1st Gen. security systems?

YES!! I have a DEI remote starter system. It works just fine with the factory alarm. I don't like the layout of the remote though. It's two buttons. The 1st button locks the doors, unlocks the doors, and sets the panic off. The 2nd button is an auxillary feature (opens trunk, rolls down windows) that doesn't work on mine. You activate the remote start by pushing the first and second buttons on the remote. Just make sure the doors are unlocked or HONK HONK.. the panic goes off.

man. my alarm systems blows. i even think its an alarm system. I think its just a keyless. I have two buttons on my remote. When I lock/unlock the doors, it doesn't even chirp. What alarm systems do you guys recommend?

Viper, Compustar alarms are what we install at my friends shop. I have the Viper 550 in my 96, this alarm comes with bulit in remote start.

Definitely go with the Clifford Alarms. I have had Avital, Viper, Python and Clifford. The Clifford has perforemed the best and has a lot of really cool features. Check out my sig for type.
