Wheel offsets
 

Ok guys, I have a 98 RL and I'm looking to put some 18's. I would like a deep lip but not too aggressive. I just don't know what offset to go with without the wheels sticking out. I want to be able to tuck them. It isn't lowered yet but that's because I haven't found springs. Suggestions on offset? Thanks.

How do I know what the stock wheels are? The calculator wants the stock width and offset to compare.

I did not know the specs off hand, so i googled.

there are two wheel sizes, but lucky for you,both have an offset of 55

7Jx16 ET55

Offset is stamped on a wheel as an ET value, which refers to the German phrase Einpress Tiefe. ETindicates the distance between the mounting surface and the geometric centre of the wheel (the symmetry axle), usually expressed in millimetres. When the ETvalue decreases, the alloy wheels will protrude further out.

according to that definition, the high offset of 55 means that they wont stick out that much

From experience, those are very low offsets.

in the website that I provided, the article states the fronts are 19×9.5 +8 ...and the rear is 19×10.5 +0

VERY LOW offsets. which he countered with camber, as to not to rub.

from experience, here is my car...with what I THINK is an aggressive offset +22

i am running a square set of; 18x9.5 +22

those gentlemen with the +8 and +0 are EFFING crazy to run that low

So in your opinion, will these work without sticking out of the fenders?

what is the width of the wheels?
18" is the diameter and +20 is the offset. missing the width.

+20 is pretty aggressive, depending on the width.

They are 19x9 front and 19x10 for rears.

You will have to do what those gentlemen did; play with height, play with camber, play with tire size, play with fender to get them to fit.

Your proposed set is more aggressive than my set and I had to roll and pull fenders, and raise my shit up, in order not to rub. But of course, I like race car tires! Wide and fat. You will have to play with all variables, especially tires. You will have to stretch tire or put a narrow ass tire on that wide ass wheel

You won't be able to tuck with springs, you will need coilovers or air

That's why I was thinking of going with 19x8.5 front and rear with like a 22 to 25+ offset. I would love air or coilovers but not for my daily...too expensive.
