Question About 99 RL Cluster

Hi Guys - my odometer display died on my 99 RL. I found one from a salvage yard on-line. I was told it was from a 99 RL. After installation, I found out that some of the displays were not in the same place as they were in the old cluster. For example, my headlight used to be on the right where the temp and fuel gauges were. But now, it’s on the left. Also, I had ABS and TCS in my old cluster. But the new cluster has ABS and VSA. Finally, I did not have to reset the SRS light. I am having doubts if this cluster is from a used 99 RL. Any insight would be appreciated.

Can anyone with a 99 RL share with me where the headlight display is located on their cluster. Also if they have a display for VSA instead of TCS. Thanks.

So other than the small changes of position is there any acutual problems?

There were pretty many variations in gauges throught the years. If your car does not have VSA then the cluster you got is probably from a newer RL.

You can open up the clusters and just swap out the odometer section.

Thanks for the reply. There is no problem with the cluster. I was hoping that the cluster for a particular model year should be the same. So when I saw VSA light show up, I was wondering whether they were available for some 99 RL.

In terms of swapping the odometer section - I have done that and it did not work. I bought a cluster and swap the odometer section with my dead one and it did not work. Something in my circuit board is dead and would not send out signal to the odometer display. Since that method did not work for me, my next option was to swap the whole cluster. My concern is if in the future I want to sell the car, would there be a problem. Would a potential buyer tell the difference?

According to acuraoemparts.com, the part number for the gauge cluster for a '99 is 77200-SZ3-A02ZB. That fits the 99 - 03 model years. You may have one from an earlier year...
I doubt anyone other than an RL enthusiast would be able to tell the difference providing everything works....

VSA was added in the 2000 model year, so the '99 cluster is unique.

Before I swapped the cluster, my ABS and TCS lights were on. After the swap, ABS and VSA lights are on. I was planning on taking it to the dealer for diagnosis and possible repair. I am afraid the dealer will notice that my RL model does not have VSA but TCS. I don't know how they will react to that information.
