I'm not done on the calipers... or the new rotors or the new suspension or the new interior mods...

It'll all come together gradually.

Yea I figured, powder-coat might be the only way to make it stay true.

Between that and rehabbing my house and also helping my dad rehab his house and a few rental properties... I stay pretty busy just on rebuilding / wrenching on things... but it's how I was raised.

hear hear. about the same on my agenda as the house situation goes plus two young kids needing most of my free time.
it'll (RL) always be here (if i choose to) but the kids need attention now.
on the contrary, i have an expanded vision of what i want out of my RL as well thru the future.

end goals= show ready.
it may not be this RL, but an RL. but aong the line as youv moved parts from one car to another...it would include..
rims, suspension, sound, interior work, custom goodies (diy), some jdm mods...
this was purchased as my vip built platform basically. iv gone thru more cars than i can count in last few years. actually coming from a 3.5 swapped 95 legend from a year back...that was mostly motor focused. iv had miatas, sc300/400/integras/maxima/altima...then the unmodded bunch (camry, civic....)

Same here. I've had several Civics and other cars and then picked up the busted front end '96 RL from my uncle for $300... and it was all "downhill" or actually uphill from there. Getting into the RL chassis was a great choice...

It already has a peppy motor that doesn't need a swap or intake manifolds, or turbo / nitrous / supercharger unless you want to go extreme. All you have to do is drop it and wheels and tint and your done. And since there aren't an over abundance of wheels, like 4x100 Hondas and such, you don't spend money swapping and buying multiple sets of wheels all the time like i did too back in the day.

My first real modified Civic... it was slow, I'm sure you can tell

Nothing special was done...

Then I bought another Ek hatch (Satin Khaki hatch)...

Got bored of that and painted it too...

and then the final result...

All that money wasted on all different random parts... and then an RL takes about $2,xxx and it's pretty much finished for a decent and nicely powered DD.

haha. so humble of you to speak. i see a lot of work that went into it.
i have a soft spot for ek hatchies still. you went thru the works as you said....poured money into it to get it where it was. the teal valve cover is almost at the right angle...i cant tell if u were boosting b or d series. (going with d looks roundish in the front)

Turbo'd B16 with a t3/t4 60 trim...

I sank too much money into those cars... and then the big RL being a flagship car... and it's the cheapest car I've had to modify in the long run.... so far.

I'm sure my User Name is more understandable now.

Not going to lie, I'm glad the Civic is gone.

I'd much rather have the RL any day.

Lovely! Beautifull car I have a 97 similar to your old RL and I love your mods...simple and clean. You have given me some great ideas. I will be getting a disability settlement next year and plan to put most of it into my car or, look for a '02-'04 with lower miles. I have 270 on the clock now and lots of other things wrong but the engine runs good but the timing belt has never been done! the only thing im really missing is heated seats, i really want those for my back. everyone thinks im crazy because I live in florida but I dont care! How much $$ did you put into the 97 the get it where it was? and what did you sell it for?...if you dont mind me asking...

In my opinion....

LOWER IT TO WHERE YOU LIKE!

I just need to get a little bit bigger wheel and i might go with an 18" wheel to see what that does. I've done the 19" wheel route before and it was fun, but with camber and things, the tires went away quickly... so, I'll just keep going with "trial and error" and find what works best.
