I didn't do the block heater myself, but the battery and tray had to come out, and then the freeze plug was a big bolt.

I got the block heater for 90$ and paid 100$ to have it put in.

Mobil 1 oil was on sale so I got some and did an oil change early because the oil in this RDX was super black, so I did the oil change early. I usually get the 1$ oil filters from Rockauto but decided to try the K&N.

I am. Would like to know if it keeps the car cleaner.

So far it keeps it dryer.

My RDX's alarm started going off last night a few times at dinner. I thought i left it unlocked to stop that.

Woke up and the car was dead.

I believe this is the culprit. (photo from google of used hood switch)

I am going to cut the wire harness in hopefully the laziest easiest way, without removing anything.

Alarm went off again shortly after.

Lets look at the trunk latch alarm switch.

The wire that plugs into the white cover is the power for the release. The other one is for the alarm.

The wire harness for the alarm was pretty wiggly. Unplugged it with a flat screwdriver.

It’s weird because my truck and hood latch both act up when it’s cold. Then my car won’t start because it says on my alarm application that the hood or trunk is open...

My shawd, TCS and vsa light came on today. Rdx was locked into 2wd. Scanned the vsa and shawd only and got those 2 codes.

Cleared and will drive some more to see if it comes back.

Will scan all if it does. Hope it's not the yaw gyroscope that sensor is expensive.

Well I have been trying. Testing the stability assist in reverse is totally normal.

That is a very good idea and I will go the kijiji route if it comes on again.

So far so good after clearing it.

My fan mode light went out the other day. It's more annoying than I thought it would be. The shawd light etc did not come back on which is good. However my check engine light for o2 sensor is on even with the extender sleeve the Russian exhaust shop provided. Sometimes it goes out on its own but for the most part it's on. Also my ghetto rig of tailgate switch stopped working. The harness connector is green with salt corrosion. I ordered another used tailgate switch but may go another route.

Popped out the silver peices. Really easy if you don't care about scratching them like me.

2 screws

Here is where the bulbs sit

The culprit. I don't have one of these.. ...

But you know what else I don't care about? This light.

So I swapped this bulb for the other one and ripped off the blue rubber coating on the bulb.

It works.

Funny thing it's the bulb for the picture of the guy in the airbag indicator. The OFF still lights up.

Probably an hour and a half
I used a hair dryer to stretch the leather and spray glue to stick it. I wish there was more material at the tips but it looks a lot better than the ripped one and it was cheap.

Oil change time. Exactly 6000kms it asked for an A service. I am leaving the k&n oil filter on and using the cheapest oil Canadian tire had. It is the wrong oil 5w20 and is not HTO-06.

Now, can you fix mine???

Amazing post. I'm new to this forum so thank you for the opportunity to participate. I too have a 2007 RDX Turbo (2.3L K23A1) with 110K on the ODO. It was my girlfriend's car and (no sexism her I promise ;-)) needless to say she "changed the oil every 3K (waste of money at this interval but better than not) and that about it. I did the air filters for her and kept the lights on ha ha. I've got my own cars to fiddle with so I never had much pull when the dealer "suggested" maintenance such as a transmission flush, spark plugs, brake fluid (lots of moisture in the lines in FL), etc. My luck or misery depending on your perspective that she "gave" it to me for $4k. It's a tight little machine (the car I mean) and I've been playing around with it (still talking about the car although it could go either way) for the last few months. It's a mess. Leaks oil (replace the valve cover seal, oil filter housing o-rings), has muddy transmission fluid and the front struts are stiffer than uncooked spaghetti. I'm in the process of performing a tranny flush and wondering whether there is a filter that is replaceable. I did ID the part number that the dealer provided and have seen that it exists (in-line housing with filter element as a single unit). However, I (as an amateur DIY) can't locate it. If someone can comment on A. whether or not it's accessible without major work and B. whether I should mess with it at all. Thanks and best regards, Craig

Hi

Muddy transmission fluid?

Is it like brown and foamy?

Take the rad cap off and if there's brown foam in there you have a cracked radiator and it needs to be replaced and the trans and rad flushed asap.

As far as the filter the only one I can see is in the trans. My TL had an inline one under the battery tray. I have pics of it somewhere...

Wink

You're exhaust rusted and fell off damn...also can you send me the info on those bulb sizes please...you put the wrong oil in your RDX it is lubricated by the oil that's a poor choice. You should be putting in HT-06 Mobile 1 fully synthetic this is not an average Acura motor and demands the right oil.

For the other gentleman making suggestive jokes about his girlfriend you need to do the transmission flush every 30,000 miles if you want it to last like mine that has 150,000 miles on it now.

It looks like the hanger broke off at the end of the midpipe at that compression fitting and out pressure on it but yeah rusty. Coat hanger will hold it in place until I get one of those cheater brackets

The bulb I just stole from the airbag light and moved it into the mode button. It's a different bulb but it fit and was free and didn't really affect anything. And yeah I know I'm using the wrong oil. It's sort of bugging me, I'll change it out early maybe. That certification is for how the oil travels through narrow passages under pressure when it's dirty right?
