Rdx tech with kenwood double din installed

Just finished the kenwood install took me 4 hours since there is not a plug and play harness for the tech model. I had to cut some plastic trim and adjust the brackets but it works .

That is crazy, does the top screen still work or are you only using your lower new screen?

Any specific reason that you opted to install a double din there? What is your overall plan for audio integration?

Yea the stock radio sucks and I normally throw a system In my cars. Not a fan of any ELS system they sound shitty. I prefer bose stock but that can be a pain to but the sound quality is much better from bose. I have some subs and a box I'm building just been busy with my truck. I have a 2013 Escalade that I have been doing engine work so that has been taking most of my time.

I've actually considered doing something similar, only instead of keeping the seat heater switches and everything where they are, relocating them somewhere so that the whole new unit is still visible. A lot of work but personally I think it would look pretty damn good.

Yea that was an option too but I wasnt going to do that. I can see the whole screen perfect I just have it tilted back in stealth mode. Not many people have done anything which is why I did it.

Thumbs up for the time and dedication. Definitely looks good. Also do you use a specific dash kit to hold the kenwood in place or you custom made one?
Mind sharing what wires you cut and tapped into?

Temperature display

How did you deal with the temperature display?

Yes, I'm curious if the display on the top of the dash still works correctly? I might swap out the factory set for my daughter someday and want to make sure all of the factory displays and buttons still function. We never use the middle screen for anything (cause it sucks) just the little top screen on the dash. Are there any specific aftermarket speakers that fit well and work in the existing door locations? I assume component is the way to go. Any easy factory sub-switch?

I would be extremely surprised if the HVAC information on the sub-display did not work. The radio is an isolated unit and all of the HVAC controls remain untouched. He may have lost the radio information being displayed on the upper screen, but I don't see any reason why the HVAC information would not still display as normal.

Yeah, meant the radio information also, that is really handy. I'd hate to have to look all the way down to the head unit it's nice to have it on top of the dash.
