Loud idle in the morning

I've been noticing every morning that our RDX is louder than the S2000 in the morning when we start them both up side by side in the garage. The fan and engine noise on the RDX makes the S2000 sound quiet! Is this normal? There's a really deep rumbling bass coming out of the exhaust on the RDX. Of course you can't hear a thing once you get in the car and get moving.

How long has the RDX been idling? If its warm enough and when the fan kicks in its quite loud but also if you have the AC (climate control on auto) running thats even louder.

I find the rdx quieter in the garage :P probably cuz the lude has an aftermarket exhaust system :P My room is right above from the garage and sometimes when I remote start that baby up stuff in my room rattle for a good few seconds. (and no my house isn't old, well insulated!)

Forgive me for asking, but what's a lude?

Try turning the A/C off and the fans won't come on right away.

It's usually the first minute or so. Lots of bass in the sound. I'm not complaining I actually like it, it sounds like the beast is roaring to get out of the garage. I just want to make sure it's normal. The S2000 isn't exactly a quiet car and to have something that's louder worries me.

That's very strange, because the RDX exhaust seems very quiet to me. Maybe you have an exhaust leak or something, and when it heats up, it expands and seals the leak.

We got nailed by a rock from a trailer in the next lane. I'm taking the car to the dealer to replace the windshield. I'll ask them to have a listen to the exhaust.

My TSX is like this when it first starts, particularly in the cold. I think it's just cause of the higher idle. It seems to resonate with the acoustics of the area around my driveway especially well. Once the idle drops down it's a lot more subdued.
