Tranny Help

Hi , I just bought a 1999 Acura 2.3 cl. Turns out it wasn't the best deal since the block was cracked and I didn't know it . But here is the real problem , I had a new motor put in it ,completely rebuilt and I got a pretty nice deal on it . Well the shop installs it and now I am having major tranny issues . Before the new block was put in the tranny seemed fine . I am not saying this is the garages fault just looking for a simpler fix to what I am being told is now wrong . The car now flares going into every gear badly. It has a tranny code of po740 . Like I said it did not do this with the old motor and immediately did it with the new motor . I know the garage where it was installed and do not think they knowingly did anything to cause this . The transmission shop across from where I live immediately told me when I told him the code it needed a complete rebuild . His shop specializes in foreign car transmissions so I am not questioning him . I am just looking for another solution to what this could be or another fix since it was not doing this before the new motor was installed . The code apparently is a torque converter code . The car has 227000 miles on it and was taken great care of before it got into my hands . Any suggestions out there on why it may be happening now and not before the engine swap . Is there possible solutions that will work like just changing the torque converter any suggestions would be greatly appreciated . Like I said it was fine before the change . Love this car even though I have had it only a short time and definitely don't have the 2500 bucks the tranny shop wants for the complete rebuild . Thank you for any ideas .

From what I gather, once the transmission hits the 200,000 mark, you're on borrowed time. Mine is on 230,000 and I need a new transmission. Likely, it was a coincidence. But, I'm far from being an expert lol! Good luck, and yeah, probably not related.

If it's an auto trans, sadly you will need to rebuild it at some point
