Reverse Sensors / Curb sensors....
Hey, you all know what im talkin about...the 4 little circle sensors on the BMW's and Mercedes and Vans and shit...the ones that when you get close to the curb it beeps at you...
Anyone ever installed these to the CL?? I know you can buy the kit for like $150 (which I'll probably do) but I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them.
Im about to drop my car 2" and everytime I park, its either my front or my rear than hangs over the curb, and i know once im lowered, that shits goin straight into the curb, not over..lol...(yes im a bad @ parking... I just dont wanna ram my WW lip into the curb since I'll be lowered now.)
My other question is if anyone knows how far those sensors can penatrait (sp?) through... What I'd like to do is mount them into the OEM black trim and then install the WW lip over them....I just dont know if the sensors can pass the signal through something like a WW lip...
Anyone know!?!

yea thats what im sayin...lol...everytime I park into a spot...I leave me car and look back @ her and either the front WW lip is over the curb, or the rear & exhaust is....and I keep thinkin to myself, once im dropped 2"...that shits going straight into the curb, not over...so Im thinkin these sensors would help alot and save me $$ in the long run because I woudnt have to spend $$ on re-fixing the lip and repainting when I plowed into the curb..lol...(i just dont want to see em, thats why im wondering if i can hide them behind the Ww lip, but i wonder if they'd still work....

i think they have to be out in the open...my cousin has it on his Windstar and i dont know how it would work behind a lip
just dont go all the way into the parking space, thats what i do and i haven't hit anything since...

I guess another thing I can do...which Ive been meaning to do is add another video out to my TV and hook up a camera for the front and rear of the car. (shit would be tight with the front camera "on" 3" above the ground goin like 100mph on the HWY....)
Shit...the sensors on Ebay are like $50...thats not bad at all...(wonder how much quality they are)

for some reason, the expensive units on ebay come with a LCD screen telling you the distance away from the curb and when to stop. I really dont see the pint in the LCD screen because isnt that just that the Beep sound indicates???? lol

I am almost positive that they have to be on the exterior. If you want a sensor, taht senses an object, it needs to have a clear view to that object, if u put it behind your lip, it's gonna trigger the whole time, cuz your lip is in the way. That's why the bimmer's have the little sensors on the outside of the bumper. They need clear line of site.

^^ scratch radar, i meant infrared
However, most of these backup devices use either radar or ultrasonic. Which can be mounted behind housings.
For example,

Just learn your visual cues as to how far you are in the spot, and you won't have that problem... It makes me crazy when I see people with the nose of their car way over the curb. You can do all kinds of damage in the wrong situation. I hate parallel parking... But I've gotten pretty damn tight at it. Just go practice... fuck a sensor-eyesore.

well i mean if i could get like 4 sensors for like $50...wire them up to a switch so when i want them on, i can turn them on....that'd be perfectly fine with me. I'd actually like to have maybe 2 in the front and 2 in the rear. (theres some that come on licence plate covers so maybe i'll do that...
